Description

DESCRIPTION
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to solutions to simply, safely and rapidly allow a child's wheeled stroller to slide easily over ice and snow covered ground surfaces BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Canadian Patent No 1,224,831 issued in 1987 to Florence U. Reynolds discloses a system for installing a snow ski runner 114 with curved ends 115 to a child's wheeled stroller. The stroller is comprised of having a pair of downwardly divergent leg members on each side of the stroller and at least one wheel attached to the lower end of each leg member. Each ski of the said patent is comprised of having a ski runner 114 that is long enough to support the pair of wheels 112 on one side of the stroller. The skis must be removed and carried when bringing the stroller indoors, which is clearly an awkward solution as the skis must be temporarily stored.
Canadian Patent No 2,117,041 issued in 1999 to Paul Lambert and Jeanine Lambert discloses a system similar to the one mention in the previous patent with the addition of a pair of elongated elastic cables 40, and a mechanism for adjusting the length of the ski 32-34. The elongated elastic cables serve to remove the skis from the wheels and to let them hang under the stroller when the terrain does not call for the use of the skis, which improves upon the invention mentioned in the above patent. Yet, having skis that are hanging under the stroller prevents the stroller from being folded when the need arises, thus necessitating the removal and storage of the skis - an inconvenience as the ski members are fairly long and would require disassembly for easy and temporary storage. Furthermore, most strollers come with the ability to lock the rear wheels from rotation thus allowing the stroller to be secured from movement.
Unfortunately, sitting all the stroller wheels on the skis creates a hazardous situation for the child in the stroller, as the stroller can no longer be locked into place and can easily slide into a dangerous situation for the child.
Finally the above-mentioned inventions are functional only for strollers that have four leg members, two on each side of the stroller. Furthermore, the front and rear wheels on each side of the stroller must be inline for the above inventions to function. Therefore the above-mentioned inventions are not useful in situations where the strollers' froxxt and rear wheels are offset, or not inline, and for strollers that sit on three points or wheels instead of four.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to provide a set of skis to allow a stroller the ability to slide easily over snow and ice.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a solution that will maximize the safety of the child by allowing the stroller to be secured i:rom movement.
Such an object is accomplished by providing skis that sit under only the front wheels, and not all the wheels. As a result the rear wheels can be locked from rotational movement thus allowing the stroller to be secured from movement.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a ski that can be used with strollers that rest on three or four points or leg members or for strollers that have offset front and rear wheels. Such an object is accomplished by individually sitting the stroller wheels on skis.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a ski that can be used by strollers with leg members that contain double wheels or single wheels awd with wheels of various sizes.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a ski that is easily attached and detached from the stroller.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a set of skis that are small enough to be easily stored and/or transported.
