Description

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GENERATING
AN ELECTRONIC SOCIAL COMMUNICATION CARD
WITH MULTI-LAYER IMAGES
Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a system and a method for generating an electronic social communication card, including greeting card, to a receiving party via a communication network, and more specifically, to a system for generating the social communication card with mufti-layer images.
Background of the Invention It is increasingly a requirement in modern computer systems to provide the capability to electronically communicate between users to allow for shared transmission of information. In recent years, the network technique is dramatically developed with a brisk step due to the improvement of the semiconductor industry, the computer and the communication techniques. In addition, the network is a world-wide information highway connecting most of the compute a system all of the world. The user can interconnect with the network using various services such as electronic mail and World Wide Web (WWW). E-mail is one of the popular use tools, it is possible for computer system linked to Internet for communicating each other. The World Wide Web ("W W W") was designed as an easy visual interface for representatives of the interne:t. The WWW allows a server computer, called a Web site, to send graphical Web pages of information (Web pages) to a client computer and display the Web pages. These Web pages may contain control regions, such as simulated push buttons, that allow the representative to acquire and display additional, related Web pages of information in a hypertext fashion. Each client and server has an Internet address called a Uniform Resource Locator ("URL"). The WWW uses the HTTP protocol. Currently, a WPb page is defined by a HyperText Markup Language ("HTML") file. The software on a client that manages the Internet connections and interprets and effects the commands contained in HTML documents is called a browser. In general, the Web servers are stateless with respect to client transactions. The use and capabilities of the WWW have greatly increased in recent years. It is now a media that supports commerce and holds even greater promise for commerce in the future as a media that can connect buyers with sellers, can take actual orders, and can complete the associated payments.
Typically, individuals may give a social communication card to others having greeting message for particular occasion.
Most of the individuals go to a conventional store to purchase a greeting card and send it to a third party. Under the development of the E-commerce, it can provide a convenient service for the consumer. Social communication cards include greeting cards, invitations, announcements, and the like and are referred to herein as "greeting cards" or "social expression" cards. A number of systems have been invented in the past to provide customization of social communication cards. One of the prior arts may be seen in the U.S. Patent No. 5,870,718. The art includes a system in which a computer terminal can produce composite greeting gift certificate card. The user of the terminal may compose a greeting message addressed to the recipient and the user has no need to go to a gift certificate dispenser installation. Briefly, the terminal is provided with greeting card and gift certificate software that selectively downloaded by the ;user. It is possible for the user to compose and print out the composite card having message attached thereon.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,426,594 disclosed a method by which a user can select and pay for a greeting card and send it to another, please refer to an article entitled "ELECTRONIC GREETING
CARD STORE AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM". A user selects a greeting card, than transmits a request message to a server system, and the server processes the requested message by wireless transmission to a second personal communicator. The second personal communicator presents the electronic greeting card message, including greeting card image corresponding to the representation thereof included with the greeting card message, to a user.
United States Patent No. 5,748,484, entitled "System for printing social communication cards in response to electronically transmitted orders". The system includes a database preparation system, a number of card display/order systems, and a number of card printing systems. The database preparation system uses a scanner to input images from a plurality of cards, or a computer software program to create images for use in card designs. A card description database defines the layout of each card in terms of its component images and text, and their locations on the card.
The database preparation system can also build a card parameter database to enable a user to select a desired category of cards.
Up to now, all of the social communication cards are made with only one layer or page. The server system provides a great number of images for the user to select the desired greeting card.
The user may select only one image a time. The user has no change to composite separated images together. Beside, the user may only type a certain bits of message for sending to the receiving party. Therefore, the receiving party receives the send card with only one page of information. Sometimes, it can not meet the requirement of the user. Further, FLASH is widely used for producing the animation incorporated in the greeting card. The greeting card with FLASH file provides successively motion and expression. The animation was made and edited by the service provider, obviously, the user has no right to edit the animation and the greeting card, not mention to control the timing of the animation. It is unlikely to send a social communication card with personal style.
