Abstract
The invention provides an improved skylight of the tubular type. The addition of solar powered light emitting diodes to the interior of the tube provides twenty-four hour light capability. The solar panel on the exterior of a building is attached to a re-chargable battery in the building. The battery is attached to the light emitting diodes inside the light tube. The battery is charged at a higher rate lien the light emitting diodes draw from the battery.
The result is a combination of constant light emitted from the pipe and independent from a conventional power grid.
The result is a combination of constant light emitted from the pipe and independent from a conventional power grid.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Tubular skylights have long been known and widely used .
The primary source of light transmitted through the tube has been daylight. Though such skylights work well in daylight hours the need for improvements in non daylight hours continues. The tubular skylight is designed to be energy e~cient and independent of the mainstream power grids whenever possible.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Considered broadly , skylights according to the invention are of the tubular type and comprise a metal tube with domed lenses at each end to collect and diffuse light. The light emitting diodes used in conjunction with the tubular skylight provide the added dimension of constant light without the need for conventional electricity.
In the drawings which form a part of specification, Fig 1 is a semi-diagrammatic view of a LED Tubular Skylight. 1 is the tubular skylight of general design. 2 Is the wiring used to connect the solar panel 3 to the Rechargable battery 4. The light emitting diodes are 5 connected by wires to the battery 4.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In the particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention illustrated, tubular skylight 1 is able to deliver light twenty-four hours, created by the reflection inside the tubular skylight of the light emitting diode 5 powered by the battery 4 which is charged by the solar panel 3.

Claims
WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE
IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. The configuration of using the existing technologies of Tubular Skylights , Solar components and Light Emitting Diodes improves the performance of the tubular skylight. The light is now available for longer periods of time , and still independent of the power grid.
