Description
BEACH BAG
The present invention relates to a beach bag and more particularly, it relates to a combination of a bag, blanket and towels.
There are devices or articles known in the art wherein blankets may be utilized with a carrying device such as a bag. Thus, there is illustrated in U.S.
Patent 5,187,823 an article which is capable of being configured as a blanket or as a carrying bag or knapsack. U.S. Patent 2,227,751 discloses a combination garment and blanket.
However, none of the references disclose a combination bag with a blanket or like substrate and which may be used with towels.
It is therefore an objection of the present invention to provide a beach bag.
An embodiment of the present invention will be described, in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the front of the assembled beach bag with a open pocket;
Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1 showing the pocket in a closed condition;
Figure 3 is a top view of a portion of the beach bag in an opened condition;
Figure 4 is a top view of the remaining portion of the beach bag and blanket shown in Figure 3;
Figure 5 is an enlarged view of one corner of the opened beach bag;
Figure 6 is a enlarged view of a corner of the beach bag of Figure 1 illustrating the securing peg;
Figure 7 is a top view of the beach bag;
Figure 8 is a front view of a further embodiment of the beach bag according to the present invention;
Figure 9 is a top view of a portion of the beach bag of Figure 8 in an opened condition; and Figure 10 is a top view of the opened beach bag of Figure 8.
Referring to the drawings in greater detail and by reference characters thereto, there is illustrated in Figure 1 an assembled beach bag which is generally designated by reference numeral 10. Beach bag 10 includes a front panel 12 as seen in Figures 1 and 2, a rear panel 14, as seen in Figure 3, and side panels 16 and 18. On front panel 12, there is provided a pocket generally designated by reference numeral 20 and which pocket may be sealed by a flap 22. Flap 22 is shown in an open position in Figure l and in the closed position in Figure 2. Flap 22 has a pair of attachment members 24 secured thereto which are designed to mate with attachment members 26 on pocket 20. Attachment members 24, 26 are preferably of the hook and loop type.
As may be seen, attached to side panel 16 is a pocket generally designated by reference numeral 28 designed to receive a bottle B.
Attached to back or rear panel 14 are a pair of straps 32 and 34 which are designed to attach to fasteners 33 and 35 respectively on the upper portion of front panel

Attached to back or rear panel 14 are a pair of straps 32 and 34 which are designed to attach to fasteners 33 and 35 respectively on the upper portion of front panel
-2-12. A main strap 30 extends from side panel 16 to side panel 18.
When opened, and as may be best seen in Figures 3, 4 and 7, there is provided a blanket which is designated by reference numeral 36 and which is rectangular in configuration and has one portion of a marginal edge secured to front panel 12. Thus, blanket 36 may be folded lengthwise and then folded transversely and placed within the bag formed by front panel 12, rear panel 14, and side panels 16, 18.
Blanket 36 is of a generally rectangular configuration and in each of its four corners, is provided with a grommet 38. Also provided in each corner is a peg 40, each peg 40 having a cord 42 extending through peg 40 and grommet 38. Thus, pegs 42 can be used to anchor the blanket to the substrate surface of earth or sand as desired.
As may be best seen in Figures 5 and 6, each peg 40 has a pocket 44 associated therewith which is designed to receive the peg 40 when not in use.
Blanket 36 is also provided with snaps 48 which are used to secure a towel 46 thereto. Thus, the towel may be maintained in position on the blanket 36.
In the embodiment of Figures 8 to 10, similar reference numeral are utilized for similar components, the reference numerals being identified by a prime.
In this embodiment, beach bag 10' has a pair of straps 64 for carrying the same.
It will also be noted, from Figure 10, that the blanket 36' is substantially larger and in the illustrated embodiment, is designed to receive three towels 46'. Snaps 48' are provided for each towel.
