Abstract

La présente invention concerne une structure d'électrode annulaire de dimension radiale verticale. Cette électrode fait saillie depuis le diamètre extérieur du cathéter lorsqu'est montée dessus. L'électrode annulaire verticale est pourvue d'une surface de contact tissulaire qui, en général, touche les tissus d'un patient avant que le cathéter ne vienne en contact avec eux. Cette structure permet à chaque électrode montée sur l'extrémité distale du cathéter d'avoir un bon contact uniforme avec les tissus. Elle permet également que soit appliquée une plus grande pression sur ces tissus, avec cependant une force réduite en comparaison avec une configuration de cathéter-électrode classique, et ceci en raison de la zone de contact diminuée que présente l'électrode annulaire verticale. Dans une configuration préférée, l'électrode verticale est pourvue de bords courbés et réguliers pour éviter d'abîmer les tissus lorsque le cathéter est introduit ou retiré du corps du patient.
