Abstract

Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors have been invented to assist people in alarming them when smoke or carbon monoxide is detected from a fire.
This invention is being created to assist people in reminding them to change the batteries in their smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors as well as reminding them to perform necessary timely maintenance. This could include things such as cleaning the detectors and ensuring they are working properly. All of these things are vital for the detection of fire emissions in order for the alarm to sound.

Description

DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in homes are crucial to the early detection of smoke and carbon monoxide. Early warning by means of an alarm gives family members precious time to escape. Both detectors must have a power source in order to function.
The power source is either by battery or by plugging the unit into an electrical wall plug.
Sadly, many fire deaths have occurred because the battery was dead and had not been replaced in smoke detectors and in the case of carbon monoxide detectors the unit was not in proper working order. Monthly testing and inspection is recommended for both units.
In this invention "The Life Saving Calendar" a plastic calendar is placed between the ceiling or wall and the detector, leaving exposed 12 pedal shaped tabs, each clearly marked with each month of the year.
When the battery is changed in a smoke detector for example in June, the plastic tab marked June is simply twisted oil Each month after the detector is checked for battery and proper working order. The person responsible for the maintenance in the household will know at a glance what month the last maintenance check was completed.
This invention relates to a monthly calendar installed behind and around smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as a reminder to inspect and test them monthly.

SPECIFICATION
In drawings which illustrate embodiments of the invention "The Life Saving Calendar", figure 1 is designed to fit behind a round detector. The outer edge of the detector 1 is the baseline for each monthly tab 2. This calendar will be made from poly propylene recycled plastic and it's colour shall be bright red as a visual reminder. The narrowest part of each tab closest to the detector 3 will be the weakest point and will twist off with ease. Each tab will be raised 5/8" from the wall or ceiling surface to accommodate easy grasp and twist off. Two pilot holes 4 will be designed at 180 degrees which be standard to round detectors.
Figure 2 represents a standard rectangular carbon monoxide detector. The calendar will be designed exactly as figure l, with the exception of the positioning of the tabs which will correspond with the rectangular shape of the detector.

Claims

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
A plastic monthly calendar which is installed between the wall or ceiling and the detector.
The calendar has 12 tabs representing each month of the year. Monthly, the corresponding tab is removed in the month checked for charged battery and proper operation of the detector.
