Abstract
The invention relates to a compact disc in check or business card format, having one compact disc surface on at least one of its sides. The invention is characterized in that said compact disc has a main support part (2) and a truncation part (13). The compact disc surface is centered on the main support part. Each diagonal of said main support part has a length which corresponds to the diameter of the insertion slot of a CD-ROM drive or a CD player.
Description
A compact disc in bank card or business card format The invention relates to a compact dist in bank card or business card format, in which on at least one side there is formed a compact disc surface.
Such a compact disc is known from DE 296 16 619 U1. The compact disc may be applied into usual CD-ROM drives or CD
players so that access is possible in the usual manner to information stored on the compact disc. However the compact disc has the disadvantage that on account of the very inhomogeneous mass distribution on the CD carrier plate, it runs very erratically.
It is therefore the object of the invention to further develop a compact disc of the known type in the bank or business card format such that the possibilities as an information carriEr a=a not limited and in particular a malfunction-free running in commercially available CD-RCM drives or CD players is possible.
This object is achieved by a compact disc according to claim 1. Advantageous formations are the subject matter of the dependent claims.
According to the invention it is envisaged that the compact.
disc comprises a main carrier part and a break-off part, wherei;.
the compact disc surface is arranged centered on the main carrier part and each diagonal of the main carrier part has a length which corresponds to the diameter of the inlay deepening of a CD-ROM drive or of a CD player.
A compact disc in bank card or business card fo~~~at has for example the dimensions 5.4 cm X 8.4 cm, wherein the T.ain carrier par t has dimensions of 5.4 cm x 6 c:n and the br=a~- ;ff cart ..
dimensions of 5.4 cm x 2 cm. The length of each diagonal or a main carrier part which although is still essentially rectangular but has almost identical edge lengths is then 8 cm, which corresponds to the diameter of the inlay deepening on the playing plate of a CD player or of a CD-ROM drive. By way of the improved approximation of the shape of the main carrier part to a circular disc the running of the compact disc is less erratic.
According to a particular formation the main carrier part and the break-off part are connected to one another via a break-off location. With this preferably the break-off location runs along a line perpendicular to a common side edge of the main carrier part and the break-off part. The compact disc may then for example also be used as an entrance ticket or theatre ticket, since one may then invalidate the ticket with the separation of the break-off part.
In particular for such applications it is advantageous when on the main carrier part and/or the break-off part there are provided integrated circuits, a computer chip, a scannable code and/or a magnetic strip, which contain readable data which may be acquired and read in a conventional manner, or via laser apparatus.
In order to emphasise the impression as a business card or bank card the length of the shorter side of the main carrier part should correspond to the length of the longer side of the break-off part.
The invention exploits the fact that compact discs are played from the centre towards the outside. One may thus store large quantities of data on the compact disc according to the invention, which are played or may be called up in CD players and CD-ROM drives. Also the playing of audio text, pictures, music and likewise is possible.
L _ . _ In the following the invention is described in more detail by way of the accompanying drawings. With this there is shown:
Figure 1 a plan view of a compact disc in bank card or business card format according to the present invention;
Figure 2 the compact disc of Figure 1 with a bent-off break-off part; and Figure 3 the main carrier part of the compact disc in relation to the inlay deepening of a CD player.
In Figure 1 the compact disc consists of a main carrier part 2 on which centered there is arranged a compact disc surface which in the usual manner comprises a central hole 5.
Furthermore provided on the main carrier part 2 is a computer chip 4, in which additional data may be deposited and where appropriate also processed. Via a break-off line 8 onto the main carrier part 2 there is fastened a break-off part 3 on which likewise a computer chip 4, a scannable code 7 and a magnet strip 9 are arranged. The compact disc in total is essentially rectangular and has similar dimensions to a usual bank card or business card.
Figure 2 shows the compact disc bent off along the break-off line 8, with which now the break-off part 3 is present separately and where appropriate is thrown away. The infemation which is important to the user is present on the main carrier part 2, this part in the usual case is kept for access to the data on the compact disc surface 1.
As Figure 3 shows the main carrier part 2 has dimensions which permit it to be applied into the inlay deepening of a CD
player or of a CD-ROM drive. Usually such inlay deepenings have a diameter of 8 cm, this is also the length of each of the diagcnals of the main carrier part 2. On account of the now almost square shape the mass distribution in the inlay deepening .... .. .
with respect to the compact disc of the state of the art is much more homogeneous so that a more uniform playing or a less erratic running in the apparatus is made possible.
The features of, the invention disclosed in the above description, in the drawings as well as in the claims may be essential individually as well as in any combination for the realisation of the invention.
