Abstract
A male shield designed primarily for the purpose of placement over the male genital area and deflecting and absorbing urine spray which is often experienced when changing a small male child's diaper or bathing the child. The male shield may be flat or curved and in a preferred embodiment, is shaped in the configuration of a medieval shield having embossed indicia thereon. The shield is typically constructed of an absorbent material and may have a waterproof layer on one side and adhesive applied to the other side for removable attachment to the child.
Description
Backaround of the Invention Cross-Reference To Related Patent Applications This application is a continuation of my U.S. Patent Application No. 08/802,994 filed February 21, 1997.
field of the Invention This, invention relates to devices for aiding such activities as changing diapers and bathing babies and fore particularly, to a male shield designed for deflecting and absorbing urine from a male child during the bathing and diaper changing procedures. In a preferred embodiment the male shield is constructed of an absorbent material which may have a waterproof layer on one side and adhesive on the opposite side for removable attachment to the child: The male shield may be of substantially any size, flat or curved, and may also include embossed indicia on one or both sides thereof, as desired.
D~scriotion of the Prior Art One of the problems which exists in handling, changing diapers and bathing male babies is that,of urine spray directed upwardly toward the handler. The male shield of this invention is designed to deflect or absorb this stream of urine and is typically constructed of absorbent cotton or other compressed absorbent material, optionally having a waterproof layer thereon for gripping. In a preferred embodiment the male shield may also be fitted with adhesive material on the side opposite from the waterproof layer to facilitate removable attachment to the child at the genital area, to further deflect and absorb urine spray.
It is an object of this invention to provide a male shield designed to prevent or minimize the effect of unexpected urine spray from male children during handling of the children.
Another object of this invention is to deflect and absorb a urine stream or spray from a male child during diaper changing, bathing or other handling, by means of a male shield which is shaped in either a flat or curved configuration and is characterized by an absorbent layer and a non-absorbent layer, for handling purposes.
