Abstract

Dans un système de télécommunication qui utilise le mode de transfert asynchrone (ATM) et des minicellules pour transporter des données de communication, des informations précises relatives à l'en-tête des minicellules améliorent sensiblement la capacité à aligner lesdites minicellules au niveau d'une station réceptrice. Des informations plus précises relatives à l'en-tête desdites minicellules peuvent être obtenues par dérivation d'un seul code de contrôle d'intégrité de l'en-tête (par exemple, un code de redondance cyclique) de chaque cellule ATM en fonction des en-têtes de minicellules qui ont été insérés dans des emplacements contigus dans la cellule ATM. En insérant lesdits en-têtes dans des emplacements contigus, la station réceptrice peut extraire chaque en-tête sans devoir se fier aux codes indicateurs de longueur présents dans chaque en-tête, qui peuvent contenir une ou plusieurs erreurs sur les bits. Ainsi, la station réceptrice peut recalculer le code de contrôle d'intégrité de l'en-tête avec beaucoup moins d'erreurs, ce qui accroît sensiblement la probabilité de détection et de correction des erreurs susmentionnées et améliore la capacité à aligner lesdites minicellules.
