I am a resident of Canada, with the mailing address set out above, and I -am a lnv r and Applicant. This document sets forth a description of my invention, under section 93 of the Patent Rules, as follows:
My invention is a means for covering, storing, transporting and displaying framed or un-framed art work, such as paintings. A cover made of thick, transparent or translucent, waterproof and essentially inert plastic with one side that opens to allow the art work to be easily slide inside and out. At least one side of the plastic enclosure will be made of a clear material so that the art work is visible without having to remove the art work from the cover. This allows for a quick and professional appearance when displaying the stored art work. The basic shape and means is a square bag, or similar means, with an opening at one end to allow the art object to be inserted or removed. Additionally, the bag will be vented near the top to allow for air pressure and humidity differentials within and outside the enclosure to normalize to each other. The invention protects the art work, is an organized method for storing art work, reduces costs in storing and displaying art work and is convenient for all who handle art work.
The filing system for the stored art work is simply a rack with adjustable individual slats to store an indeterminate number of art works. It can be constructed of metal, such as wrought iron or other similar means or rigid material. It would be made of flat bars or individual slats for the paintings and it would incorporate a cushioned surface on which the art work can rest and wheels or skids for transportation.
Both of the devices for displaying and storing the art work will be flexible enough to incorporate various sizes and shapes of the original design. These different sizes and shapes will depend upon various factors, such as the art works to be stored and displayed and as well as consumer needs.
Further, it is not an obvious improvement over the prior art, which consists of devices such as tote bags and racks for carrying art objects with a strap assembly for example.
