Abstract

La présente invention se rapporte, en général, à un procédé de traitement des données sismiques permettant d'obtenir une quantification et une visualisation améliorées des effets subtils d'accord sismique des couches minces et autres types de discontinuités lithologiques latérales. La réflexion provenant d'une couche mince présente une expression caractéristique dans le domaine des fréquences qui est représentative de l'épaisseur de la couche: le spectre d'amplitude de la réflexion comporte une séquence périodique d'encoches qui sont séparées par une distance inversement proportionnelle à l'épaisseur temporelle de la couche mince. En outre, on peut utiliser cette expression caractéristique pour rechercher les réflexions de couche mince dans un volume tridimensionnel et estimer leur épaisseur et leur étendue latérale. La présente invention est d'autant plus utile qu'elle concerne un nouveau procédé de blanchissement du domaine des fréquences qui permet de mettre en relief les informations géologiques présentes dans le spectre. Bien que la présente invention s'applique de préférence à un volume tridimensionnel, elle peut également s'appliquer à tout ensemble de traces sismiques reliées spatialement.
