Abstract
A metal door stand which protectively stores the removed doors of Chrysler Jeeps in an upright, side by side position. In this invention, the manner in which the doors are stored in the stand prevents the doors from bending or warping while plumbing form is used on the stand to cover all areas of the stand that is in direct contact with the door. The plumbing form protects the doors from any paint chipping. When the invention is in its portable state it consists of 3 wall sections, 2 end pieces and a base consisting of 4 cross members, 2 side pieces and 4 3/16" x 1 1/2 bolt and nuts.
Description
SPECIFICATION
This invention relates to an automotive accessory of a metal stand that protectively, properly stores removed Jeep~ doors.
It is common for Jeep~ owners to remove the doors of the Jeep~ when warmer weather arrives I have found that it is a normal practice to lean the removed doors against a wall, building or tree. A noted result of storing the doors this way for any extended length of time is that they become warped or slightly bent causing the doors to fit incorrectly when returned to the Jeep.
The attached drawings illustrate the embodiments of the inventions. Figure 1 is the completely assembled stand. Figure 2 is the side view of one of the three wall sections of the stand. Figures 3 reflects the top view of the assembled base portion. Figure 4 gives the top view of the end pieces) showing the placement of the welded pips.
The assembly begins with the base piece. The cross members of the base are inserted into the drilled holes of the base side. Once all cross members are properly inserted the end pieces (Figure 4) are placed at both ends ensuring the square yokes of the base are securely placed over the end piece and fastening the bolt and nuts on each of the four corners (Photo #2). Each of the three wall pieces (Figure 2) are then inserted into the aligned pins of the end pieces thereby completing assembly (Photo # 3).
The material used as outlined in the drawings is ~ 1 Smm cold rolled metal pins ~ 1 x 1 x 1 /8 square tubing ~ 'h" EMT (electric conduct) ~ 1 '/4 x 1 '/4 x 100 wall tube
