Abstract

A frontal parental attachment for carrying an infant, which is suspended from the shoulders of an adult, and structurally designed from a single-piece, molded, plastic seat with a flexible attached harness at the center. The Polyethylene-molded seat is so shaped so as to provide, not only sufficient space for the baby, but also to provide space for the baby's diapers. The harnesses from the top end swings towards the opposite ends and down to their respective rings where they are snapped into place. The harnesses, attached from the front center, are snapped into the back-ends-under the arms of the baby. The structural strength is engendered by the one-piece polyethylene molded seat created by the rotational molding process. It is designed to be light, and therefore, provides for a parental attachment hardly visible once the baby is in place, and convenient as carry-on luggage to parents. This is a commercially feasible venture to my earlier application.

Description

DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR ART
The infant carrier by Ruggiano, which is made to carry a baby in a frontal position, is elaborate because of the nature of the structural design. I have rectified this in my invention by a simpler device of structurally devising a pattern-a plastic-molded seat which provides both the space and necessary strength sufficient for the carrier. The carrier by Mack is stronger than required. In fact, he asserts that his carrier can handle a 120 lb.-this is beyond the scope of the intended purpose-and my invention is such that its required strength is primarily for the weight of the baby only. The invention of Yamaguchi is considered as not user friendly in that the time required to place the baby and strap the baby in place would require considerable time, my invention is made in a way that it is easy to be used, and convenient as carry-on luggage. The Bush application does not provide for parental viewing of the baby since the baby is placed on the shoulders and only provides support for the baby and does not provide a seat. Whereas my invention provides for a seat with parental view of the baby, resulting in parental protection at all times when in use. This particular application is a modification of my earlier application for commercial reasons.
DETAILS OF PRIOR ART COMPARED TO THE INVENTORS PRESENT ART
APPLICATION
The patent by Mack requires that the baby be gently dropped into position. And while doing so one must take extra caution and be overly careful of the baby's legs as it is dropped into place, because of the structural design of Mack's carrier. The patent of Ruggiano requires an elaborate and time-consuming strapping device before the baby can be positioned in the carrier. In the patent that I am seeking, the baby can be easily slid into position without any discomfort to the baby. Moving the baby in or out is not only easy, but quick. Positioning the baby in place, in my invention is made simple and does not require any elaborate straps or strapping time-as required in the Ruggiano patent. Removing the baby from the carrier is also a very simple procedure-release of the buckles, drop the harnesses and the baby can easily be lifted out of the carrier.
Again, both the above inventions involve a complex network of safety features, and therefore make the inventions inconvenient and harder to use. As such, the carriers are not as user friendly as would be my invention. In my invention the single harness that divides and goes under the arms of the baby and to the back of the carrier is such that it adequately takes care of the safety concerns and leaves the carrier entirely safe for the baby.
In my invention there is no elaborate strapping devise-there are just two claps to buckle the Garner on, and two snaps to buckle the baby in..
Mack's invention goes beyond the scope of carrying an infant when he asserts that one would carry 120 lbs. of weight-here he is not talking about an infant any more. When a Garner is stronger than its intended use, it is bound to be heavier than necessary. This issue is dealt with in my carrier in that it is intended to only carry the weight of the baby. As such the very design does not require elaborate materials for its strength nor for its utility.
Also, if the carrier is to be part of carry-on luggage for parents, it must be such that the parental attachment, such as a carrier, must be as light as it can affordably be. Without compromise to safety features or its adequate strength required for carrying a baby, my carrier is extremely light and hardly visible once the baby is placed in the carrier. It is easy to store, carry, and as carry-on luggage, it is easy to handle.
The patent of Bush has a metal frame and allows the baby to face forward, but the baby is not visible to the parents because the baby is seated on the top of the shoulders. My invention allows the parent to have the baby in sight at all times. This provides extra safety because the parent is aware at all times of what the baby is doing. Though, the application of Yamaguchi gives the baby a frontal view, it is such that the time that one would need to put the baby into position would be elaborate. Further, the carrier itself would take considerable preparation time before one can used as a carrier. As such it is not user friendly as would be the case if it was less elaborate as mine does. The concept of having the baby seated on one's shoulders assumes that the baby is at least six months and is steady and involves some difficulty in getting the baby positioned. My carrier can be used by a baby between three and eight months of age and is not difficult to position the baby in place.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
A parental attachment for carrying infants who are old enough to hold their heads upright without any assistance. The Garner itself provides for a seat along with diaper space-since all babies of this age group wear diapers. It provides two adjustable straps to fasten the Garner on to the adult-the suspenders criss-cross at the back of the adult and get sapped into the respective rings at the bottom ends of the carrier thus securing the carrier and making it ready for use. It also provides a center harness that splits into two and gets clasped into the back of the Garner.

In operation, once the carrier is fastened on by the adult the baby itself is secured into place by sliding in the baby into place and harnessing the baby by the provided harness that are clasped on at the rear end under the arms of the baby.
The object of this invention was to create an engineered structure that while it provides for a seat for the baby at the same time was convenient for carrying the baby--in that there was to be no pressure points-for the person caring the baby. This has been accomplished by rounding up the back of the seat. This is made possible because of the hallow space between the seat and the back of the seat. The back is rounded off so that there are no angles from the seat that can put pressure on the person who is carrying the baby.
While the baby has a seat, the seat's back is the point of contact--so it is rounded up so that there are no edges that make carrying the baby a discomfort.
The object of this invention is to provide a carrier as a parental attachment without negating in anyway parental protection, but giving the parent some flexibility to do such things--such as sign a check or go for a walk without the constant use of their hands holding the baby. This invention is made to provide a carrier that is USER FRIENDLY in that the parent/adult user fords it easy to put the baby in or out without any hassle.
Once the harness is out, the baby can be slipped in or out with ease, in a matter of seconds, and with no discomfort to the baby. This invention does not require an elaborate strapping devise-there are just two snaps to buckle the Garner on, and two snaps to buckle the baby in.
The object is to create a carrier that would be used as often as one would have to carry the baby. This means the procedures, for putting on the Garner and placing the baby in, should be made as easy as possible. One sure way is to make sure the time factor, that is required to put on the carrier is minimal and the time to place the baby in and out, is also minimal. Develop a carrier that does not require an elaborate strapping time.
The object was a create carrier that is very light and easy to carry on as a carry-on-luggage. If one is expected to use something very often-it must be such that it is very light to handle. The invention -the baby seat is a single piece contraception that weighs not more than two pounds. This invention is such that it will be the lightest carrier on the market in its class. It is UTRA LIGHT. Firstly because it is primarily made of plastic. The shape of the design and the process used to create the carrier provides for its strength and size. Further it is light because it is hollow inside-this is achieved through the process called as the Rotational molding process. This reduces the amount to polytheylene to just under two pounds The object of my invention is to create a earner in a SIZE that is no bigger than the baby itself. Most carriers are such that they occupy much space and parents think twice before they use it. The SIZE is almost the size of the baby and the carrier itself it is hardly invisible once the baby is positioned in place. The size is so small it is easy to handle as carry-on luggage. The size is almost the size of the baby and the weight is less than two pounds. The object is to create a carrier that is HARDLY VISIBLE- in that once the baby is in place one should hardly see the carrier. It basically must surround the baby and must not be bigger than the baby. This invention, without compromising strength or safety, provides for a lighter and LESS VISIBLE CARRIER.
CHIEI= CHARACTERISTICS
The invention is COMMERCIALLY FEASIBLE and can be WIDELY USED. For all the prior works of art as mentioned in the introduction have not been widely used in Canada.

The intent here is to give manufacturers an option of making commercial production easier and parental use more frequent.
The invention is economically feasible in that the material utilized is used to its optimal level. The carrier will be cost efficient to produce and to market as well. The design optimizes the strength of the plastic used by the process involved and minimizes the use of metal and other material.
This invention is made to provide a carrier in which the baby is CONFORTABLY
FREE. The carrier is made specifically for babies who can hold their heads up on their own-the invention provides for the free movement and frequent positioning (to allow for proper circulation) of the infant in the case of prolonged use. The parent, nor the infant, will find its prolonged use stressful. Neither the parent nor the infant will feel trapped or strapped.
This invention is ASTHETICALLY SOUND yet it looks very simple. SIMPLICITY
is the key aspect of this invention. The carrier itself does not draw any attention, for the carrier surrounds the infant almost completely.
Provides a USER-FRIENDLY DEVICE that can be used frequently without taking a long time for strapping the carrier or strapping in the infant. It is simple in design, as such is not elaborate and heavy.
Provides for a ULTRA LIGHT carrier weighing about 2 lb. Polyethylene is used to create and maintain the shape of the seat and its strength is basically derived from shape and the process engaged in the molding-rotational molding. Rotational molding permits manufacture of completely enclosed hollow moldings Provides for a HARDLY-VISIBLE CARRIER AND EASY TO HANDLE AS
CARRY-ON-LUGGAGE-in that once the baby is in place one can hardly see the Garner.

As such it is easy to handle as carry-on-luggage. It does not occupy too much space-for its size is almost the size of average babies and it is not heavy. The carrier itself does not occupy much space. It is trim and slim.

MAKING' THE MODEL
The model for the cast is made with wood. Every detail is taken care of before it is sent to the molders and the molders then make the mold which would be used by the rotational molders (see the figures from which the models were made.
Making the Molds. The molds are usually made of copper or aluminum, to take advantage of high thermal conductivity as well as, ease of fabrication.
Aluminum molds are comely used in rotational molding. They may be prodded by direct machining or Aluminum Ally stock, die casting or high quality sand casting Method of Manufacturing. The technique of rotational casting is not new, although it is only within the past few years it has been used by molders of polyethylene. The same technique has been widely used to manufacture hollow castings. Rotational molding permits manufacture of completely enclosed hollow moldings. A hollow, thin-walled sectional enclosed is charged with a predetermined amount of polyethylene and then closed. The closed mold is rotated in two or more planes and at the same time heated to gel or fuse the film of the material which has been evenly distributed on the interior walls of the mold.
After adequate rotation and heating the mold is cooled and opened and the molded article is removed.
Final Step. The final stage of the product gets all the belts and buckles in place and is ready to be used for carrying infants.

Claims

WHAT I CLAIM IS
In the light of the early patents awarded to Regina, Mack, Bush and Yumuguchi, I
would like to present the following claims in my application: My claims are for three:
A single piece polyethylene molded seat, with an attached but adjustable harness at the center which results in a frontal shoulder-suspended parental attachment, which provides a carrier for an infant.
A rounded-back carrier so as not to have any pressure points while carrying the baby. This is made possible because of the hollow space between the seat and the back of the seat. This negates the need for a cushion to minimize pressure points.
A harness that is contoured, solid and adjustable-contoured so as to have no pressure points for the baby, solid so as to check the baby from tipping over and adjustable in that it drops down when the baby is being placed into the carrier and is clasped in place once the baby is in.
