Abstract

A passive fire protection system for the protection of conduits, cable trays, support rods, and structural steel against flame and heat in a severe total environnment type fire such as a hydrocarbon fire which includes a multi-layered (laminated), flexible material (11, 12, 13, 14) containing a plurality of layers of intumescent materials. This mufti-layered material (11, 12, 13, 14) is configured such that it provides a containment system for the carbonaceous foam resulting from the expansion of the intumescent materials.
