Abstract
A tab that is attached to the top of a container (specifically aluminum drinking cans) that opens the container. A section of the same tab has a raised surface for easy manipulation of the tab. By pulling the tab 90°
the container is opened. The tab has a point of attachment from where it can be horizontally rotated. The tab has an enlarged end for covering the opening of the container by rotating the tab 180°. With the enlarged tab portion being larger than the opening that it covers.
the container is opened. The tab has a point of attachment from where it can be horizontally rotated. The tab has an enlarged end for covering the opening of the container by rotating the tab 180°. With the enlarged tab portion being larger than the opening that it covers.
Description
BACKC~ROLIND OF THE INVENTION
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a tab for use in opening the container and then rotating 180° and thereby closing the container without separation of tab from 5 container. More particularly this Invention is a tab that can open and close several times at users will.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
Previously tabs were used by lifting up on one end to depress the wall covering the drinking hole. the tab was then returned to its original position and 10 never being used again. Other devices were used to reseal or cover the lid but were always separate parts and not fixed to said lid. The previous products were all expensive and containing many parts or separate pieces as in patent container with attached pull tab opening. With this product there will not be any adlditional parts on the drinking can. The tab now has two purposes instead of just 15 the single purpose of opening a can.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
It is an object of the present Invention to provide a covering device for a container particularly aluminum drinking cans without adding any additional parts or labor to said container. To open said container by lifting elevated area on 20 enlarged section of tab to open container. Then returning tab to original horizontal position. User can than rotate tab 180°. When user rotates the tab a bump on the underside of the tab glides onto the angled slope portion of the lid so it produces more pressure for a more secure seal. When the tab is fully rotated into the closed position the tab will cover the opening of the container.
Anchor 25 point of tab is approximately in center of container, container can than be reopened by rotating tab back 180° in opposite direction. The purpose for the rotation is to cover opening and prevent foreign object to enter container.
The tab is stopped by a barrier on the container that assists in stopping the tab in the ce~mpletely open position or completely closed position.
Referring to figure 1 and 4, a tab 1 is attached to a container lid 8 by a rivet 7. The tab having a raised surface 2 when lifted as in figure 1 makes the tab end at location of bump 3 presses down on drinking hole wall 6 and opens the can.

Referring to figure 2 top view and 5, a tab 1 having pressed back to original position and the drinking hole wall 6 have being pushed to its full open position. The tab 1 has been moved towards the covered position and the bump 3 under tabl is starting to engage with the container lid 8 to give said tab 1 pressure far a more secure closure.
Referring to figure 3 and 6, the tab 1 is in the fully covered position of the drinking hole 5 and tab is stopped by barner 4 for a precise stopping position.
Said bump 3 has full pressure on container lid 8 for secure closure.
Referring to raised surface 2 the surface being elevated above container lid 8 and on the end section of the tab 1.
Referring to the bump 3 being located on the under side of the tab 1 and on the opposite end of the raised surface 2.
Referring to the barrier 4a and 4b being a raised wall on the container lid.
Refernng to the drinking hole wall 6 being a scored portion of the lid 8.
15 Referring to the rivet 7 that is located approximately center of the lid 8 and holding the tab 1 in place and giving the tab 1 a rotating point.
Refering to fig 7 were the tab 1 has a notch 9 for holding a drinking straw in place and covering the rest of the drinking hole.
SUMMARY OF THE DRAWINGS
20 Figure 1 being that of a top view and a sectional side view with the tab cower being in the process of opening the can.
Figure 2 being that of a top view and a sectional side view with can being completely open and the tab starting to rotate towards the covering position of the drinking hole.
25 Figure 3 being that of the top and sectional side view with the tab cover being in the end position of covering the drinking hole completely.

Figure 6 being the perspective view of the tab cover being in the end position of covering the drinking hole completely.
Figure 7 being that of a top view with the notched tab for holding a drinking straw in place while covering the drinking hole.
