Abstract
A safety glove, that could be used for general duties in industry or elsewhere, with a particular aim at finger tip protection.
The safety glove being a product of one glove or more, of rubber, leather, cloth, plastic or the like, integrated with hard caps, at the end of the fingers (4) and thumb.
The hard caps being made of a material that is abrasion, cut, puncture and impact resistant. The hard caps are of a design which allow same to be positioned over the finger nails, protecting the end of the finger, to approximately the first joint.
Located, between the glove safety cap and the finger end is a liner of energy absorbing material.

Description
''~~ CA 02227033 1998-03-23 SPECIFICATION
This invention pertains to a safety glove designed to protect the' finger tips. Prior art depicts gloves suited to a single application, such as heat proof glue gloves, or impact resistant gloves with stainless steel plates throughout. There are also, surgical gloves with hardened plastic tips, to protect a surgeon from being cut. Stainless steel mesh gloves also provide cut resistance. However, most gloves leave the finger tips either partially or totally vulnerable to injury. Therefore, by introducing a protective cap to the finger tips of the glove, results in a safety glove, that is inexpensive and can be used in many working conditions, where work type gloves are required and finger tip safety is a concern.
The principal objective of this glove is to provide a safe working environment for the finger tips, within the glove. By adding a rigid cap, constructed of stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, high impact plastic or fibrous material, such as fiberglass, or the like. The glove can be made of any number of materials, but more 1 ikely of leather or plastic, over a cotton inner glove. These materials should be kept light, to allow for flexibility and dexterity. The hard cap is integrated into the glove by either sewing or gluing into place. The safety cap provides cushion in the glove by a thin layer of energy absorbing material, such as foam, between glove and cap. The cap is open on one side to provide a sense of feel, when the cap is installed over the finger nail. The protective cap may be installed open side up (by finger nail), for jobs with circumstances requiring such. This type of glove, now becomes shock and impact resistant, as well as abrasion, cut and puncture resistant, at end of fingers.
Some of the uses for such a glove would be grinding operations, sawing, hammering, mining jobs, automotive manufacturing; and/or parts handling, forge and castings work,or any other type of work where finger pinching hazards exist.

Claims (3)
1. A full lightweight and economical safety glove combining flexibility, comfort and ruggedness, and having a protective cap incorporated over each finger and thumb tip, said cap being made of metal, aluminum, molded high impact plastic or a type of fibrous material, whereby protection is given to the nail portion of the finger and fingertip, the protective cap being open on one side to allow fingertip to feel through the glove, said finger tip being long enough to protect end of finger to approximately the first joint.
2. The safety glove of claim 1, further allows the protective cap to be inverted (open side, near finger nail) to protect finger tip ball.
3. The safety glove of claim 1, also contains energy absorbing material located between protective hard cap and inner glove.
