Abstract

An improvement for water bed includes a pair of water bed mattresses housed in a bed cover.
There is a heat insulating foam or air bag sandwiched between the two water bed mattresses. Each water bed mattress has a plurality of transverse partitions to reduce water vibration and turbulence within the water bed mattresses. It has the advantages of not only improving the stability but also lengthening the durability of the water bed mattresses. A plurality of longitudinal air tubes run through the transverse partitions and communicate with an air bag for providing desired softness of the water bed mattresses to quit user's individual requirements according to different weight and physical figures. Moreover, it is able to support user's back bone comfortably, and minimize the quantity of water used for the mattress to reduce its weight.

WATER BED
B~CKGROUD OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the invention This invention relates to an improvement for water bed and particularly to an improvement which can reduce water turbulence within the water bed. The improved ~t~ lUIG of the water bed according to the present invention i8 characterized by that it comprises two ~.ate~ d mattresses whose degree of reQ~ y and its t~,l"pd-alure can be individuaUy ildjU~ according to tlle different re4ui-cme.,1s of the couple QIeep:ng on the bed.
2. De~ Jtion oï the prior art Con~ent ---~' waterbed usuaUy employs high frequency fusion to form an air cu hion ~ange around the water bed. The abrupt change of water preQQure caused by external forces and the rapid and turbulent movement of water can rupture the flange at the fusion portion and results in water ~eq~e The resilliency of a con~enti~- ~' water bed is difflcult to adjuDt and the bed body is not dable enough. Mo~eover, dle mattress (j~ l-- 'ing dlose widl or without air b~ ' ~ p~
itself is loosely constructed to form a cnnfigl~raIion of flat circular flange not only di~ qti~ in its appearance but also i~ g the danger of person sh,~,p ~ on it to slip down acci~ntqlly.
Serious swing1ng or vibration caused by moving of a person QI~ering on the bed o~en disturbs and awakens dle other one. Further, the water c~ d in a conventin ~1 standard ize waterbed is not isolated by any :-L _ r, c~ u~ntly, dlere iQ no JilI~,le.ll in temperature and resiUiency b~,t~,~,n two sideQ of the bed to meet with diffierent requirements and habits of the couple Ql~ e on it, dlus tdle couple must tolerate widh each odler. A standard size waterbed has same level of temperature and softness that couW become a plvbl~n when two people Iying on it having , CA 02222113 1997-12-15 .lilr..~,nt Q~ habits and reyu;-c~...cnts.

SIJMMARY OF rl~E INVEI~TION

In view of the above des~rihed disadvantages, it is th~,.ef~Jle an object of the present invention to develop an improved skucture of water bed in which plurality of transverse partitions are in~tAlled in the mat-tress which are able to effectively depress rapid l-ngit~ l water flow from head to end of the mattress, and plurality of penetrated holes are provided for each partition for ~miltin~ small amout of water to seep through there between and alleviating dle water pressure. ~n thi~ way, an abrupt variation of water p~,aa~e caused by in~t. ~t~ ~con~ly applying a heavy weight on the matkess can be effièctively allcviated to a g,reat extent. It is not only able to ~ int~in very stable state of the matkess, but also can prevent the destruction of high frequency fused partitions on the nlattress, but also can prevent the destruction of high frequency fused partitions on the mattress by skong water 1~ r p!- -o~ n It is another object of tlle present invention to provide -for the mattress a plurality of air tubes passing over above ~le~rihed transverse partitions. An air inlet is provided for an air bag installed at one side of dle mdtt~6a for adjul 1ing the re~;lliency of the l~latlles~ by injected air inside it and air tubes to make the malkess suitable lor dilL,l~.t weight and physical figures of individual user's application rhere, fore, the maltress of the wate~r bed may effiectively support and contact every portion of tlle user's body when he is Iying on the back or on the side thus the effect of ~ e support and profound rest of ~le user by Iying on dle water bed according to the present invention can be achieved from the vic..~,oilll of human body G~gl.~
~ t is another object of the present invention by applying an unique means of 4-side lligh ~equeluy filsion to the above described plurality of transverse partitions to fonn a maltress well sl~ed and fig~red symmetrically.
~ t is yet anotller object of the present invention to provide two parts of water filled maltress combined in one piece to form a m dlh~.ss unit for a vta, ldal~ size water bed. By such arrang n~çnt, the couple Iying on the bed may individually adjust the t~,llp~rdt~e and r~Q;l1i~ey of their own sub-mattresses to fit their own requif~,m~ts and weight without di~t~l,bir,g the other one Iying beside. Thus the aim of user's profound . leep an effect of protecting user's back bone will be Obt~
A further obJect of the pre~ent invention is to provide, in ca~e of water leakage caused by d~,te~ dlioll of lligh frequency fused partition~ occurrs, a special ~ cti~ mean~ which is the waterbed cover for the whole mattress to prevent the leaking water from seeping out of the n-atl.~,~.s and keep the water in the waterbed cover 80 the floor of the bed room won't be contaminated. In add;~ n~ detP~h~t)le r~t~n~ shaped holes are provided both at the head and the end portions of tile ~..t~,ll.cd cover for the conv~ e of filling the water in or replacing the indi~dual sub ~..alh~ 9, when it is n~c~ y, the subY~ul. may be replaced individually.
