Abstract
L'invention a pour objet une cartouche chimique électrothermique (10). Cette cartouche comprend une mèche (18) de section transversale et permet de conférer une énergie d'impulsion supérieure à un projectile (6) en brûlant totalement et de manière contrôlée une poudre propulsive (24). Un long tube étroit (16) rempli de cette poudre propulsive (24) comporte une mèche (18) sur sa surface intérieure, avec une section transversale effilée en direction de l'extrémité de décharge, séparée de la mise à la terre de la douille de la cartouche par une couche isolante suffisamment mince pour être détruite lorsque la mèche allume la poudre propulsive. Une électrode haute tension (26) raccordée à l'extrémité arrière (14) du tube (16) assure l'application d'une impulsion avec une densité de courant suffisante pour chauffer ohmiquement ou assurer la combustion de la mèche de manière contrôlée, depuis l'extrémité de décharge (12) vers l'extrémité arrière (14). Un grand nombre de ces tubes (152) peuvent être mis en faisceau dans une grande douille (150) pour les canons de gros calibre.
