Description
CA 0220634~ 1997-06-11 POL YLON (abrégé) ~The process gives a kniffed or weavedfabric requiring no acrylic orfoam backing The process consists of tlle mi~Y of pol1 mer of different t~pes used in the making of the y nrn:
- a manufactured f ber in which the the f ber-forming substance is any long chain syntlletic polymer or polyamide or cellulose acetate with a higll melting point preferably polyester nylon, acetate, acrylic or a natural f ber like cotton mired at 1 to 30% per weight with a manufactured f ber in which the f ber-forming substance is an~ long cltain syntltetic polymer composed of at least 85% by weight of ethylene, polypropylene or other olef n units with a low melting point preferabl~ of 10 to 50 degree C. below the other f ber.
The yarn formed by the above miY is woven or kniffed and used either in the warp or in the f lling or in both to make a fabric requiring no backing.
This fabric is then heat treated to a t~n~, ulure below the high melting f ber to partially bond the low melting f ber to the higlt melting f ber acting as n bonding agent.
The fabric obtained has a softer hand, a lighter weight and an easier wa~ in themanufacturing process than a similar fabric woven or knitted with a backing The mirture of every construction of the above t~pe of fabrics requires a different miY in even! case depending on the end use of the fabric.>~
