Abstract
It is known that when drilling a hole you first have to measure for the exact center and hand punch it before drilling. Whether it be a handyman or trade's man one cannot drill a straight hole with an electric or battery hand drill in any way. The difference from one side to the other will be noticeable especially so in thick material, it could be by more than 1/8" inch off.
With this invention you will illiminate these difficulties by using the specifically marked base for centering then for drilling use one of the five different sizes of the screw-in bushing guides in the holes already made on this same base, wherever it is most convenient for you to drill.
All in all one does not have to center punch the hole before drilling and with the guides provided one can be assured that the drilling will be precise.

Description
219~255 This invention relates to a tool device comprising three parts.
First part is a specifically marked base.
Second part consists of five different sizes of screw-in bushings.
Third part is a small handle to hold and carry the first two parts.
Altogether these three parts make one unit device, which will help any handyman, carpenters or precision workers to drill a hole accurately centered and straight.
The base can be used on any surface. It can also be fabricated in two different categories of materials such as metals or fiber and its derivatives.
The outstanding feature of the screw-in bushings is that they can be used in five different positions on the base, wherever is suitable for you to drill.
If the sizes of the bushings are not available with the kit, they can be made and sold separately for your needs.
All in all with this Acu-Drilling Aid Kit you do not need to center punch the hole you have to drill.
The description is illustrated by the following drawings with the exact measures mentioned.
Figure 1: Shows a top view of base only.
1 The base is made of a metal plate 1/4" thick, 6 and 1/2" long by 1 and 3/4" wide. The contour of this base has a half-way bevel-edge at 15 degrees.

2 Illustrates the 14 vertical line markers.
3 Illustrates the 4 horizontal line markers.
4 Shows the five bored 1/2" holes, tapered 1/2" by 20 threads.
Shows the alignment window which is 1/2" square, fully beveled downward with markers.
6 Shows in center of base plate a bored tapered 1/4"
by 20 threads hole.
7 Illustrates the six bored 5/16~ diameter by 1/16"
deep grooves.
Figure 2: An horizontal sideview of handle and five bushings.
8 The handle is made of plastic, the top measuring about 15/16" by 1" high, it has an insert of 1/4"
diameter rod by 1" long, it is locked in with a 1/8" diameter by 1" long spring pin, it is tapered 1/4" by 20 threads.
9 The five steel bushings are bored from 1/8" to 3/8"
giving a difference of 1/16" between them. The bottom ends of the bushings are bored 1/2" by 20 threads for 1/4" long. The other ends are knurled at 3/16~ to the top. The bushings must be tempered so as not to alter their size after frequent use of them.
Shows 3 of the 6 cork cushions on which the base rests. The cork cushions are disposed as follows;
one on each corner of th~ base and two in the center of the base. This #10 is shown in Figure 3.
Figure 3: Represents an horizontal sideview of the base, handle, bushings and cushions thus making this as a whole assembled unit.

METHOD OF USING THE DEVICE (JIG) Simply trace an horizontal and a vertical iine with the aid of a combination square; where the two lines meet is the exact point where you want to drill the hole. Then align the two lines with the horizontal and vertical markers, see #2 and #3 Figure 1.
Using the center handle, see #8 Figure 2, apply enough pressure to the device so it will not move, slip or skate on the surface you want to drill.
It is suggested, whatever the size of hole you have to drill, to always start with one or two sizes smaller, so doing, demands less strain on your drill bit for final size. This procedure proves to be very efficient especially when you are working with soft or hard metals. Keeping in mind that this device is mostly designed to operate with a portable hand drill.
There are various kinds of drilling guides but, you all have to center punch the hole to be drilled, some are quite elaborate and expensive as well.
However, the Acu-Drilling Aid Kit is small, accurate, easy to use and inexpensive.
