Abstract

A splitter mat (6) is formed with a pair of channels (29, 30) for housing respective input optical fibres, and with a plurality of channels (38) for housing respective output optical fibres. The mat (6) is also provided with holder means (31, 34, 35b) for housing splitter means which splice the input fibres to the output fibres.
