Abstract
Asteel frame or cage for the purpose of preventing transport truck wheels from leaving the vehicle accidently. The frame is intended to be mounted to the frame of the truck or the van body mounted on the frame. The device would be equipped with an electronic sensor to send a signal to the driver of an impending loose wheel or tire.
Description
The device relates to a safety cage to prevent wheels from accidently dismounting the vehicle.
There is no warning device of this nature to warn a driver of a problem with his rig. It is becoming apparent that such a device be made available to the industry. This device would add asafety factor which would prevent serious accidents and death on the highways.
The device comprises of a cage (1) constructed of a steel frame which would be attached to the truck by mounting brackets (2) . The cage has a heavy bar or cable under spring tension (3) midway across the outside of the tires (4) which is connected to an electronic sensor (5) relayed to a reciever (6) mounted in the truck cab. Should a wheel or tire be~ome loose it would put pressure on bar (3) which in turn would make contact with sensor (5) sending the warning to reciever (6) mounted in cab.
The above is a discription of the embodiments of the invention as illustrated in Fig. 1 shows a full side view of the truck.
The following is an illustration of the embodiments of the invention as seen from a rear view of a transpo-rt as Fig. 2.
The illustration shows a rear view of a truck showing both single and dual wheels (3) . The cage (1) in a exploded view before mounting and a mounted view. The sensor bar (3)¦
is mounted midway on the outside of a wheel assembly which would be activated should wheels (4) become loosened and put pressure on bar (3). this in turn would send a signal reciever (6) mounted in truck cab.
