Abstract

The present invention is directed to 5-aminoflavone derivatives represented by the formula (I):

(see formula I) wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different and represent hydrogen or substituted or unsubstituted lower alkyl, X
represents substituted or unsubstituted lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl, halogen, hydroxy, substituted or unsubstituted lower alkoxy, NR3R4 (wherein R3 and R4 are the same or different and represent hydrogen, or substituted or unsubstituted lower alkyl, or R3 and R4 are taken together to form a heterocyclic group containing the nitrogen atom in the ring), lower alkylthio, lower alkylsulfinyl, lower alkylsulfonyl, carboxy, lower alkoxycarbonyl, lower alkanoyl, azido, cyano, substituted or unsubstituted carbamoyl or lower alkylthiothiocarbonyl, Y1 and Y2 are the same or different and represent hydrogen, halogen or lower alkyl: or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The derivatives of the present invention are suitable for use as antibacterials and in anti-estrogenic and antitumour compositions.
