This inventlon relates to a hand operated tool used for redressing and straightening sllding door ra~ls, without removing the doors or the rails.
Sllding door rails are made of thin structural shape. The structural shape glves the rail strength in bendlng ~ut ~he rall is easily damaged, bent and or kinked, if hit by a moderate local force, causlng the door rollers to disembark from the rail. The damaged rail lf not repaired has to be replaced which involves money to purchase the rall, time and e~ort to remove the door(s), replace the rail, and re install the door( 5 ) .
Pller and other clamping device such as vlsegrlp or others are narrow do not access the damaged area nor do they ef~ectively repair the damage.
Accordlngly , I clalm the ollowing as the obiectlve~ and advantage~ of the lnvention: To provide a hand operated tool for easil.y rellably and neatly redres~ a damaged sliding door rail without removing the doorls) or the damaged sliding ra~l.

The tool covered ~y this patent may be described as a clamp having a speclal tip. The clamp i~ the devlce that magnlfy and transm1t the force appl1ed by the hand to the tip. The tlp ls an elongated body whose axis is perpendicular or inclined to the plane of the clamp in order to ~acilltate the introduction of the tip into the damaged area.
Figure l i~ a perspective view of the tool covered by this inventlon;
Figure 2 is an elevation view of the tool 1llustrated in figure l;
Figure 3 is a view of the tip o the tool 1llustrated ln 1gure l s ow1ng lt utilize~ w1th a sllding door rail.
Re~erring to the drawings the embodiment of the tool called part lO, the elements referred to as the clamp as part~ 20 to 30, and those referred to as the tlp as parts 40 to 50.
In the following descrlption little attention is given to the clamp as it would be similar in configuration and ~unction to other clamp1ng devices availahle ln the market such as pl1er, visegrlp, plpewrench, etc.
~ ;,,, ~ . ~ . , 7 ~ ~
The tip con~lsts of two basic element~i; a male part 41, and a female part 92. Both the male 91 and the female 42 are elongated bodies of sufficient length as deemed necessary for redr~ssing the rails; and having th~lr axes perpendicular, or incllned, to the plane of the clamp. The con~iguration of the tip parts 41 & 42 is ~ormed to take in consideration the rail shape part 60, the necessary fillets 43, and clearances, for redressing and straightening the rails wlthout damaging it. The configuration of the tip, parts 91 ~ 42 could be compromlsed to make the tool use~ul for redressing other shapes thus becomes versatile~
Part 44 is a link ~oining the male part of the tip 41 to one of the arms, part 21, of the clamp. Part 45 is a link joinlng the female part of the tip 42 to the other arm, part 22 of the clamp. Both links, parts 9~ &
45, are deslgned to allow the insertion of both parts 41 & 42 o~ the tip lnto the rail groove 61.
So Ear the lllustratlons and dascrlptions are of a tip being an integral part of the clamp; however the llnks, parts 49 ~ 45 could be bolted to the clamp rms, parts 21 & 22 rather than being an ~ntegral part. Thls variation allows exchanglng the tip with another tip of different con~iguration.

Although a single embodiment of the present invention has been descrlbed and illustrated, that of redressin~ sliding door ralls, the present invention is not limited to this embodiment but includes other application where the tool is used to redress sliding window rails~ and other variations and modifications that are within the scope of the claims.
