Abstract
In an Automobile wiper, what is known is that the purpose of such an apparatus is to clear the windshield of rain, snow or any other element which might obstruct the vision of the driver. One of those abstractions is freezing rain which is quite common in this country and which tends to settle around the blade of the wiper preventing it from clearing the windshield effectively. In this invention an electric heating wire will be installed in the wiper blade. when switched on, the heating wire will maintain a constant temperature level which will prevent any settling of freezing rain on the wiper blade thus allowing the wiper to execute its proper function flawlessly.
Description
, ~oq ~ i 5 ~
SPECIFICATION
This invention relates to a standard wiper being fitted with an electric heating wire which will prevent ice built-up on the wiper blade.
A standard automobiles wiper is an effective tool in clearing the windshield of rain or snow by sweeping across the windshield in deferent intervals. This method of clearing the windshield is only effective as long as the blade on the wiper remains free of ice.
But in a situation where freezing rain is the dominant weather condition, the average wiper is unable to execute its proper function.
I have found that this disadvantage may be overcome by installing a heating wire in the blade of the wiper. The heating wire will then be connected to a No 18 Stranded wire which will incorporate a tuggle swith as well as a 15A Fuse. The wire will then travel to the ignition switch where it will make its final connection.
When the tuggle switch is activated, it will heat the heating wire which will in turn maintain the wiper blade at a constant temperature level preventing any ice formation around the wiper blade.
In drawings which illustrate the embodiments of the invention, Figure 1 is an elevetion of a wiper which illustrates the heating wire position on the wiper blade, Figure 2 is a top view of this embodiment, Figure 3 is a side view of the same embodiment, figure 4 is a section view of the line A-A of figure 1. Figure 5 is a top and elevetion view of a standard Automobile wiper arm, figure 6 is a schematic drawing of the electrical wiring of this invention.
The "Defrost Aid Wiper" illustrated comprises of a heating wire 1 installed in the blade of the wiper 6 which will run the length of the blade, travel up on the outside of the wiper 5 where it will connect to a " No 18 Stranded " wire 3 by a two way junction connection 2. It will then continue its path towards the upper center of the wiper 5 where it will connect with a three way connection 4, then travel along the top of the automobile wiper arm 8, incased in a plastic or rubber sleeve 9, and down to the 2 Q 9 3 1 ~ 7 `_ ignition switch.
It should also be noted that the wires 1 and 3 on the wiper 5 are to be held in place by plastic clips 7.
