Abstract
Abstract This invention relates to plumbing fittings and is concerned particularly with the extension of the water closet outlet.
The discharge end of a water closet outlet better known in the plumbing industry as the Toilet Horn, is manufactured flush with base rim of the water closet. The discharge end of a water closet (Toilet Horn) is then fitted to the plumbing drainage system by means of a floor flange with wax or sponge rubber gasket. With two bolts extended up from the floor flange and secured to the water closet with washer and nuts.
This method of sealing a water closet often results in a leakage between the water closet outlet (Toilet Horn) and the plumbing drainage floor flange.
I have invented a Toilet Horn extender to overcome this problem. With one end of the Toilet Horn extender attached to the water closet discharge outlet (Toilet Horn) and the other end of the Toilet Horn extender inserted into the plumbing drainage pipe and seal by means of a rubber "O" ring.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a water tight seal between the water outlet and the plumbing drainage line regardless of the difference in the height of the finish floor level and the plumbing drainage floor flange.

Fiaure 2 is a side view vertical section of a water closet, finished ~loor, sub floor and outlet drainage line with floor flange and Toilet Horn extender.
Fi~ure 3 is an end view vertical section of a water closet, finished floor, sub floor and the outlet drainage line with floor ~lange and nuts and bolts for holding water closet and plumbing drainage together with Toilet Horn extender.
The Toilet Horn extender in the drawing comprises of an annular coupling of rubber material (1) and i8 secured to a plastic material annular pipe (2) by mean~ of two annular flanges of a plastic material (3) with an "O" ring of rubber material (4) secured to the annular pipe (2).
Figures 2 & 3 show a vertical view sections of typical water closet, flooring and plumbing drainage system, with the Toi].et Horn extender rubber coupling (1) glued to the water closet horn (5) which is then inserted into plumbing drainage line (6) and sealed with "O" ring (4) the water closet (7) is then secured to floor with nuts and bolts (8) which i secured to floor by toilet flange (9) .

Claims (3)
1. A water closet drain apparatus to extend the outlet fitting (Toilet Horn) of water closets.
2. An apparatus where modifications to compensate for thickness of floor finish in retrofit applications are made by extending the toilet bowl outlet rather than by the present practice of changing the building drainage piping.
3. A water closet drain apparatus to compensate for thickness of floor finish inretrofit applications, comprising an adapter to fit onto the toilet outlet and extend into the drainage piping, and fitted with a seal to prevent escape of sewer gasses.
