Abstract

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
In a therapeutic ear ornament comprising a dec-orative frame adapted for being supported on the outer ear of a person wearing the ornament, the frame has crys-tals arranged thereon so as to be located adjacent the acupuncture points and -lines present in the outer ear of a person wearing the ear ornament thereby causing the acupuncture points and -lines to be subjected to the forces believed to be associated with crystals.

Description

i i 1 Case T94 .1 ~ THERAPEUTIC EAR ORNA~ENT
j~l BQ~K~RQ~ QE I~E I~E~ILQN
; The invention relates to an ornamental arrange-ment for attaching crYstals to a human bodY so as to Pro-lj vide for exPosure of the human tissue to the forces be--i 5 lieved to flow from such crystals, ParticularlY of the tissue of the outer ear which contains numerous acuPUnC-¦ ture Points and -lines.
Although not strictly scientificallY researched and without scientific Proof, acuPuncture has been well 10 established in the diagnosis and therapy of the human body. In the acupuncture of ancient origin strictlY lim-ited areas of the human body are pierced by needles of various metals to produce therebY certain desired re-sults. However, in order to avoid as much as Possible 15 irritation of the tissue, ParticuTarlY infections at the iercing points, the needles should remain inserted into ~ the tissue for only short periods. ActuallY, dePending b on the method of treatment and the condition to be treatedt the desired effects occur PracticallY as soon as 20 the tissue is Pierced so that the needles do not need to remain inserted over extended periods. However, if the desired effect does not occur immediatelY, the needles must remain inserted for some time with a concomitant in-creased risk, Particularly of infections. EsPecially in 25 order to avoid the disadvantage and to simplify the acupuncture procedure altogether and, in anY case, to i' ~ ~.

2 Case T94 rnake it unbloody, treatment of acupuncture points and -lines bY electroacuPuncture has been developed wherein the acupuncture points and -lines are stimulated bY elec-tric potentials or currents. In this procedure, the human body is generally connected to one pole of an electric current source while an acupuncture specialist places the oPposite pole onto an acupuncture Point. With this pro-cedure, the poles of the electric current source can re-~ main in contact with the body for an extended period of time.
Il According to the classic acupuncture teachings j which were handed down from Asia, acupuncture Points and -lines are considered to be distributed over the whole body surface. A special acuPUncture methodology however 15 is concerned specificallY with the acupuncture Points on the outer ear since, in accordance with the teachinqs of this methodology, the outer ear contains acuPuncture oints for any of the bodY organs considered to have cor-responding acuPunctUre Points. This so-called ear 20 acupuncture also utilizes invasive techniques, that is, needle piercing of the outer ear, as well as the applica-tion of electric currents.
The acupuncture method learned particularly from Asia a long time ago also utilizes crystals wherein , 25 different types of crYstals are placed onto predetermined ! acupuncture Points. A scientific explanation is not of-fered, but in anY case, experience shows that certain re-sults can indeed be achieved. However, the influence of the forces the crystals are believed to exert on the 30 acupuncture Points follow other laws, that is, other con-ditions must be met than in connection with the elec-troacupuncture. For electroacupuncture an electrical connection with the acuPuncture tissue must be estab-lished so that a current can flow. The "forces" of the 35 crystals however are independent of the conductivity of the tissue. On the other hand, the tissue must be exPosed to these "forcesl' over extended periods of time since 21~9~6~9 3 Case T94 these "forces", believed to emanate from the crYstals.
are indeed very small. Furthermore, in order to render these small forces as effective as Possible. the crYstals should be Positioned directly on the skin and as close as possible to the acuPuncture points.
It is the obiect of the present invention to provide an arrangement which permits exposure of the acupuncture points and -lines of the outer ear to the forces enamating from crystals over an extended Period of 1û time and in an aestheticallY attractive manner.

A therapeutic ear ornament comPrises a decora-tive frame adapted for being suPported on the outer ear of a person wearing the ornament and has crYstals ar-ranged on the frame so as to be located adjacent theacupuncture points and -lines in the outer ear of a per-son wearing the ear ornament thereby providing for exPo-sure of the acuPuncture Points and -lines to the forces believed to be associated with crystals.
With this arrangement, the acupuncture points of the outer ear are exPosed to the forces emanating from crystals over extended periods of time since ear orna-.i ments can be worn constantlY at least during the daY.
The ear ornament is provided in accordance with the invention with crYstals which are appropriately posi-tioned so as to expose the acupuncture points and -lines Z of the outer ear to the force field around the crystals in an uninterruPted fashion so that the above-mentioned object of long-term exposure of the acuPuncture points and -lines of the outer ear to the forces believed to be Z associated with crYstals is achieved.
The arrangement according to the invention maY
be in the form of an open-ended decorative ring whuse one end is suPPorted in the outer ear cavity and whose other end abuts the rear wall of the outer ear. In its most simPle form such an ear ornament is a ring of circular shape. In such an oPen-ended ring the ends may be pro-~, :

4 Case T94 vided with ball-shaPed crystals. Also a plurality of ball-shaped crystals may be provided in a cluster at least at one of the ends of the oPen-ended ring which are arranged so as to be disposed along a sphere so as to be well received in the outer ear cavitY. It has been found in accordance with the handed-down acuPuncture l teachings that the use of different types of crystals is j most effective for stimulation of the acuPuncture points.
` With the arrangement according to the invention it is easily Possible to provide different crystals at the oP-I' Posite ends of the open-ended ring or to provide differ-'' ent tYPes of crystals in a cluster. These crystals are, again in accordance with the old teachings, preferablY of the isometric (cubic) or hexagonal lattice system. The use of hematite, also known as "red mine stone", has been found particularly advantageous; but also the use of the . month stones has been found suitable, that is, toPaz, ~ chrysopal, hyacinth, amethyst, jasPer, saPphire. emerald, s chalcedony, carnelian, sardonyx, chrysolite, aquamarine or beryl or also the stones assigned to the various ~! sPecies of animals such as red carnelian, rose quartz, :~ tiger eye, mountain crYstal, Yellow agate, malachite, ~, chalcedonY, onyx, turquoise and amethyst.
In anY case the arrangement according to the invention provides for good contact of the crystals with the tissue of the outer ear and for exPosure of the acupuncture Points of the outer ear to the crystal,s for extended Periods of time and at the same time is attrac-tive in aPPearance.

As shown in Fig. 1 the oPen-ended ring-like ear ornament 1 is suPported with its front end in an outer ear cavity 2 and extends around the outer ear and abuts the back wall of the outer ear. The oPen ends of the ring-like ear ornament 1 are provided with ball-shaPed crystals or clusters of crYstals 3, 5 which are disPosed closely adjacent the outer ear tissue so that the force lines believed to emanate from the crYstals penetrate the adiacent ear tissue disposed between the crystals in the ear cavitY at the front of the outer ear and those at the back side of the outer ear thereby subiecting the acupuncture Points of the outer ear to the effects be-lieved to be generated bY their exPosure to these force lines.
