BRIEF DESCRIPIION OF THE DRAWINGS
The advantages of the present invention will be described in 5 detail according to the preferred embodiments of the preferred invention in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an armoured vehicle provided with a rear door security system according to a preferred embodiment of the 10 present invention.
. . . .
DETALED DESCRIPrION ACCORDING TO THE P~ERE~
Figure 1 shows a armoured vehicle generally indicated at 1.
This armoured vehicle includes rear entry doors 3 and a forward operator cab5.
In accordance with the present invention, a remote camera 7 is mounted to the rear of the vehicle directed downwardly at the rear entry doors. A video screen 9 which receives feedback from the monitoring camera 7 is mounted in the cab of the vehicle.
Camera 7 is in a position to view not only the doors, but in addition most of the region directly behind the armoured vehicle.
Accordingly, if anyone is near the back of the vehicle the operator is able to view this on the screen in the cab. The operator is clearly able to see when 3 0 the rear doors of the vehicle have been opened.
In another embodiment of the present invention, camera 7 is mounted interiorially of the vehicle again directed at the rear door. With this set up, the operator will know when the doors have been opened because 3 5 the screen which will normally show black simply from the dark of the interior of the vehicle and the screen will immediately lighten as soon as the rear door has been opened.

In a further preferred embodiment of the present invention, an audible security system is useable either in combination with or in lieu of the video security system described above. In the preferred embodiment, the audio system comprises a pair of switch members 11 mounted at each of the s rear doors of the vehicle. Switch 11 includes a switch contact 13 which is in a switch circuit open position with the doors closed as shown in Figure 1. As soon as the doors are open contact 13 moves to a switch circuit closing -position which operates an audible alarm 15 interiorly of the vehicle.
o Switch members 11 may be mounted to the interior side wall of the vehicle and contact 13 comprises a spring loaded contact pushed into a switch open position by the door when it is closed. As soon as the door is opened, the spring pressure on contact 13 moves it to a switch closed position for operating the audible alarm.
lS
As described above, a security system of the present invention is able to monitor and indicate to the operator rear door movement of an armoured vehicle.
Although various preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described herein in detail, it wili be appreciated by those skilled in the art, that variations may be made thereto without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
