Abstract
ONE PIECE CONCEALED NECKTIE HOLDER
Abstract It is known that devices used to secure a four-in-hand necktie to a shirt, while being out of view, already exist. This invention is an improvement to the patent application no. 2,055,090-2 filed 91/11/06 by the same inventor and owner. In this invention the concealed necktie holder is made of a single piece of flexible translucent vinyl. The device has rectangular shape, approximately 2 centimetres wide by 29 centimetres long and has two symmetrical halves, each 14.5 cm. long, that are designed to be folded one over the other when in use.
It incorporates four longitudinally aligned button holes positioned in such a way that, when the device is folded, there are two superimposed button holes located at both extremities of the rectangular shape to match the spacing between shirt buttons. The device uses the necktie label, or any other narrow horizontal band attached to the back of the wide end of the necktie, and two adjacent shirt buttons to secure the necktie. The design of this device, with its two symmetrical halves, was dictated by the two possible vertical positions of the necktie label relative to the shirt buttons. The two positions are:
between two shirt buttons or directly in front of a shirt button. To secure the four-in-hand necktie when the necktie label falls between two shirt button you keep the device folded, and simply slide both halves of the folded device between the necktie label and the necktie itself and then you button each end of the folded device to the two adjacent shirt buttons located each side of the necktie label. For the other possibility when the necktie label falls directly in front of a button, you keep the device folded, holding it vertically with the fold at the lower end, but then you insert only one of the symmetrical halves between the necktie and its label, positioning the necktie label close to the folded end, then you fasten the top button holes of both halves of the device to the shirt button located immediately above the necktie label and finally you fasten only the lower button hole of the half next to the shirt to the button directly in front of the necktie label. The device therefore enables the four-in-hand necktie to be secured to the shirt no matter where the label falls relative to the position of the shirt buttons.

Description

Specification q'his invention relates to a one piece concealed necktie holder for reasonably securing a four in hand necktie to a shirt and which iB hidden from view behind the wide end of the necktie.
It is common in devices for securing the loose ends of a four-in-hand necktie to use devices like tie claps and tie tacks. ~ow~ver, these devices are necessarily visible when worn, and tie tacks inherently tend to damage the visible face of the necktie when worn frequently~ Other device achieve the goal of being concealed behind the tie but do it using components that are either excessively hard to manipulate or are uncomfortable or even both.
I have found that these disadvantages may be overcome by providing a one piece concealed necktie holder that is made of flexible translucent vinyl which will hold both wide and narrow ends of a four-in-hand necktie in place with respect to a shirt and which is entirely hidden from view behind the wide end of the necktie. It is most importan-t to notice that this aoncealed necktie holder is not made of metal or hard plastic or a mechanical device that can be bulky and uncomfortable but is made of a single~piece of flexible translucen~ vlnyl which is flexible, thin, comfortab:Le and easy to use.
The device is of rectangular shape, approximately 2 centimetres wide by 29 centimetres long and has two 6ymmetrical halves, each 14.5 cm. long, that are designed to be folded one over the other when in use. It incorporates four longitudinally aligned button holes positioned in such a way that, when the device is folded, there are two superimposed button holes located at both extremities o~ the narrow rectangular shape. The device uses the necktie label and two adjacent shirt buttons to secure the necktie.

Figure 4 Shows how to use the device when the necktie label fallis directly in front of a shirt button.
With particular reference to -the embodiment shown in FIG.l, 11 denotes the crease in the plastic to enable folding of the two symmetrical portions. 12, 13, 14 and 15 denote the four button holes. The device is designed in guch a way that, when folded, the button holes of the symmetrical halves are superimposed and they match the spacing between shirt buttons.
A representation of the invention in its folded, ready to use, configuration is shown at FIG.2.
The way to wear the invention depends on the position of the necktie label relative to the shirt buttons. First you don the necktie and insert the narrow end of the necktie between the necktie label and the wide end of the necktie. Then while ~tanding upright, determine where the necktie label falls vertically relative to the shirt buttons. If the necktie label falls between two adjacent shirt buttons then -the invention is worn as in FIG.3 but i it alls directly in ~ront of a shirt button it will be worn as shown in FIG.4.
~ eferring now to FIG.3, the way to wear the invention when the necktie label falls between two adjacent shirt button~ is as follow3: in this ca3e there is no purpose for the two symmetrical halves so they are kept superimposed and used as if there was only one layer, hence you keep the device folded and slip both halves of the folded device between the necktie label and the necktie itself and then you button each end of the folded device to the two adjacent shirt buttons located each side of the necktie label.
Referring now to FIG.4, the way to wear the invention when the necktie label falls directly in front of a shirt button is as follows: you keep the device olded, holding it vertically with the ~old at the lower end, then you insert only one of the symmetrical halves between the necktie and its label, positioning the label close to the old, next you fasten the top button holes of both halves to the shirt button located immediately above the necktie label and finally you fasten only the one button hole of the lower end of the device that is next to the shirt.

The pre~ent concealed necktie holder ha~ the advantage of being simple, inexpensive, flexible, comfortable, easy to use and virtually indi~cernible, even when looking at the necktie sideways. Furthermore because of the way it slides behind the necktie label, it does not strain aa the user moves. The user can hardly tell -that he is wearing the device except for the fact that his necktie is always properly positioned. This one piece concealed necktie holder can also be reused indefinitely.
