Abstract
A strap tightener with straps comprising a front tightener, a rear tightener, and three straps adapted to be hooked at one side and overlaid on packaged merchandise loaded in a truck and wound around between the two tighteners so that one of the straps can be locked by one of the strap tighteners or two of them after one or two straps are pulled tight and locked by the tighteners.

STRAP TIGHTENER
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention concerns a strap tightener used for binding tightly packaged merchandise loaded in a truck for transportation.
According to one aspect of the invention there is provided a construction of a strap tightener with three straps for binding materials comprising:
a first strap, a second strap and a third strap, a front tightener having a plate body, a first short rod and a second short rod fixed across the plate body, the first rod being in the front portion to be hooked by a looped end of the second strap, the second rod being in the rear portion so as to be wound around by the first strap, a pivotalrod attached across the plate body and located between the first and the 15 second rod, a tightening lever pivotally connected with the pivotal rod so as to be swung up and down with the pivotal rod as a pivot, a twisting spring fitted around the pivotal rod and having one end fixed on the lever for biasing the tightening lever to a pinching position, said tightening lever having a flat rough face at a lower end to face parallel to a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting 20 wall of the plate body defining a gap between the flat rough face of the lever and the flat face of the lengthwise side projecting wall for the first strap to pass through and to be pinched immovably therein in the pinching position of the lever;
a rear tightener having a plate body, two short rods fixed 25 across a front portion of the plate body a little spaced apart, a first one of said two rods nearer to a front end of the plate body than a second one, the first rod being hooked around by one looped end of the first strap, the second rod being wound around by the first strap, the second rod being wound around by ., ~

the first strap, a pivotal rod attached across a rear portion of the plate body, a tightening lever pivotally connected with the pivotal rod so as to be swung up and down with the pivotal rod as a pivot, a twisting spring fitted around the pivotal rod and having one end fixed on the lever for biasing the tightening 5 lever to a pinching position, said tightening lever having a flat rough face at lower end to face parallel to a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the plate body, defining a gap between the flat rough face of the lever and the flat face of the lengthwise side projecting wall for the third strap to pass through and be pinched immovably therein in the pinching position of the lever;
the three straps being connected with the front and the rear tighteners for binding materials, the first strap having one looped end hooked around the first rod of the rear tightener and the other free end passing through the gap between the lower end of the tightening lever and a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the front tightener so as to be pinched 15 therein, and the first strap being wrapped around the second rod of the fronttightener and the second rod of the rear tightener, the second strap having one looped end hooked around the first rod of the front tightener and the other end connected with a hook, the third strap having one end connected with a hook and the other free end passing through a gap between the lower end of the 20 tightening lever and the lengthwise side projection wall of the rear tightener so as to be pinched therein; and whereby in use the hook of the third strap can be first hooked at one side of the material, the third strap can be overlaid on the material, the hook of the second strap can be hooked at the other side of the 25 material, the other free end of the first strap can be pulled outward to tighten the combination overlaid on the material, said tightening lever of the front tightener can be moved to the pinching position to lock the first strap B

One embodiment of the invention will now be described in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a front view of a strap tightener with straps in the present invention.
Figure 2 is a rear view of the strap tightener with strap overlaid on packaged merchandise loaded on a truck; and Figure 3 is a perspective view of the strap tightener with straps overlaid on packaged merchandise loaded on a truck.
In the drawings like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the different figures.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
A strap tightener with straps in the present invention comprises a front tightener 1, a rear tightener 2 and three straps 3,4,5 as shown in Figure 1.
The front tightener 1 has a plate body 11, two short rods 12, 13 fixed sidewise on a front portion and a rear portion of the plate body 11 for a looped end of the straps 3 and 4 to hook thereon, a pivotal rod 14 fixed in the plate body 11 between the two strap rods 12, 13, a spring 15 fixed around the pivotal rod 14 and having one end fixed on a tightening lever 16, which has a rod hole for the pivotal rod 14 fitting in so that when the lever 16 is swung up the spring 15 is compressed. The lever 16 also has a rough flat face 161 at a lower end to face parallel to a flat face 17 in lengthwise side projecting will on the plate body 11. The flat face 17 has a plurality of shallow recesses 171.

The rear strap tightener 2 has a plate body 21, two strap rods 22, 23 fixed sidewise on the front portion, a little spaced part, a pivotal rod 24 pivotally connected sidewise with the rear portion, a twisting spring 25 fixed around the pivot rod 24, and a tightening lever 26 having a rod hole for the 5 pivotal rod to pass through and one end of the twisting spring 25 fixed on thelever 26, so that when the lever 26 is swung up the spring 25 is compressed.
The tightening lever 26 has a flat rough face 261 to face parallel to a flat face 271 of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the body 21 so as to pinch immovable a first strap 3 between the rough face 261 and the flat face 271 10 when the lever 26 is swung up.
The three straps, a first one 3, a second one 4, a third one 5, are provided to be extended and hooked on the front and the rear tighteners 1,2, for binding packaged merchandise loaded in a truck.
All the three straps 3,4,5 have respectively two looped ends and 15 the first one 3 has one looped end hooked on the rope rod 22 of the rear tightener 2 and the other looped end passing through a gap between the lower end of the lever 16 and the side wall of the plate body 11. The second one 4 has one looped end hooked around the strap rod 12 of the front tightener 1, and the other looped and connected with a metal hook. The third strap 5 has 20 one looped end connected with a metal hook and the other looped and extending through between the lever 26 and the side wall of the plate body 21 of the rear tightener 2. The first strap 3 has to be extended to be wound around the rear strap rod 13 and the strap rod 23, and the second strap 4 has a rather long length to be overlaid on packaged merchandise loaded in a truck 25 from one side to the opposite side.
In binding packaged merchandise with this strap tightener with straps, the hook of the third strap 5 is to be hooked at a side 71 of a truck 7 and the second strap 4 is to be extended overlying packaged merchandise 6 B
loaded in the truck 7 and the hook of the second strap 5 is then to be hooked at the other side 71 of the truck as shown in Figures 2 and 3. After that, the strap 3 for adjusting tightness of the whole of the strap system is to be manually pulled tight outward and with a hand catching hold of the free looped 5 end and then the loosened lever 15 has to be swung up, letting the strap 3 pinched immovable between the rough face of the lever 15 and the flat face 17 of the side projecting wall. The third strap 5 can be used auxiliary to tighten the whole strap system as well in the same way as the first strap 3 is tightened .
While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications which may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention concerns a strap tightener used for binding tightly packaged merchandise loaded in a truck for transportation.
According to one aspect of the invention there is provided a construction of a strap tightener with three straps for binding materials comprising:
a first strap, a second strap and a third strap, a front tightener having a plate body, a first short rod and a second short rod fixed across the plate body, the first rod being in the front portion to be hooked by a looped end of the second strap, the second rod being in the rear portion so as to be wound around by the first strap, a pivotalrod attached across the plate body and located between the first and the 15 second rod, a tightening lever pivotally connected with the pivotal rod so as to be swung up and down with the pivotal rod as a pivot, a twisting spring fitted around the pivotal rod and having one end fixed on the lever for biasing the tightening lever to a pinching position, said tightening lever having a flat rough face at a lower end to face parallel to a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting 20 wall of the plate body defining a gap between the flat rough face of the lever and the flat face of the lengthwise side projecting wall for the first strap to pass through and to be pinched immovably therein in the pinching position of the lever;
a rear tightener having a plate body, two short rods fixed 25 across a front portion of the plate body a little spaced apart, a first one of said two rods nearer to a front end of the plate body than a second one, the first rod being hooked around by one looped end of the first strap, the second rod being wound around by the first strap, the second rod being wound around by ., ~

the first strap, a pivotal rod attached across a rear portion of the plate body, a tightening lever pivotally connected with the pivotal rod so as to be swung up and down with the pivotal rod as a pivot, a twisting spring fitted around the pivotal rod and having one end fixed on the lever for biasing the tightening 5 lever to a pinching position, said tightening lever having a flat rough face at lower end to face parallel to a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the plate body, defining a gap between the flat rough face of the lever and the flat face of the lengthwise side projecting wall for the third strap to pass through and be pinched immovably therein in the pinching position of the lever;
the three straps being connected with the front and the rear tighteners for binding materials, the first strap having one looped end hooked around the first rod of the rear tightener and the other free end passing through the gap between the lower end of the tightening lever and a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the front tightener so as to be pinched 15 therein, and the first strap being wrapped around the second rod of the fronttightener and the second rod of the rear tightener, the second strap having one looped end hooked around the first rod of the front tightener and the other end connected with a hook, the third strap having one end connected with a hook and the other free end passing through a gap between the lower end of the 20 tightening lever and the lengthwise side projection wall of the rear tightener so as to be pinched therein; and whereby in use the hook of the third strap can be first hooked at one side of the material, the third strap can be overlaid on the material, the hook of the second strap can be hooked at the other side of the 25 material, the other free end of the first strap can be pulled outward to tighten the combination overlaid on the material, said tightening lever of the front tightener can be moved to the pinching position to lock the first strap B

One embodiment of the invention will now be described in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a front view of a strap tightener with straps in the present invention.
Figure 2 is a rear view of the strap tightener with strap overlaid on packaged merchandise loaded on a truck; and Figure 3 is a perspective view of the strap tightener with straps overlaid on packaged merchandise loaded on a truck.
In the drawings like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the different figures.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
A strap tightener with straps in the present invention comprises a front tightener 1, a rear tightener 2 and three straps 3,4,5 as shown in Figure 1.
The front tightener 1 has a plate body 11, two short rods 12, 13 fixed sidewise on a front portion and a rear portion of the plate body 11 for a looped end of the straps 3 and 4 to hook thereon, a pivotal rod 14 fixed in the plate body 11 between the two strap rods 12, 13, a spring 15 fixed around the pivotal rod 14 and having one end fixed on a tightening lever 16, which has a rod hole for the pivotal rod 14 fitting in so that when the lever 16 is swung up the spring 15 is compressed. The lever 16 also has a rough flat face 161 at a lower end to face parallel to a flat face 17 in lengthwise side projecting will on the plate body 11. The flat face 17 has a plurality of shallow recesses 171.

The rear strap tightener 2 has a plate body 21, two strap rods 22, 23 fixed sidewise on the front portion, a little spaced part, a pivotal rod 24 pivotally connected sidewise with the rear portion, a twisting spring 25 fixed around the pivot rod 24, and a tightening lever 26 having a rod hole for the 5 pivotal rod to pass through and one end of the twisting spring 25 fixed on thelever 26, so that when the lever 26 is swung up the spring 25 is compressed.
The tightening lever 26 has a flat rough face 261 to face parallel to a flat face 271 of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the body 21 so as to pinch immovable a first strap 3 between the rough face 261 and the flat face 271 10 when the lever 26 is swung up.
The three straps, a first one 3, a second one 4, a third one 5, are provided to be extended and hooked on the front and the rear tighteners 1,2, for binding packaged merchandise loaded in a truck.
All the three straps 3,4,5 have respectively two looped ends and 15 the first one 3 has one looped end hooked on the rope rod 22 of the rear tightener 2 and the other looped end passing through a gap between the lower end of the lever 16 and the side wall of the plate body 11. The second one 4 has one looped end hooked around the strap rod 12 of the front tightener 1, and the other looped and connected with a metal hook. The third strap 5 has 20 one looped end connected with a metal hook and the other looped and extending through between the lever 26 and the side wall of the plate body 21 of the rear tightener 2. The first strap 3 has to be extended to be wound around the rear strap rod 13 and the strap rod 23, and the second strap 4 has a rather long length to be overlaid on packaged merchandise loaded in a truck 25 from one side to the opposite side.
In binding packaged merchandise with this strap tightener with straps, the hook of the third strap 5 is to be hooked at a side 71 of a truck 7 and the second strap 4 is to be extended overlying packaged merchandise 6 B
loaded in the truck 7 and the hook of the second strap 5 is then to be hooked at the other side 71 of the truck as shown in Figures 2 and 3. After that, the strap 3 for adjusting tightness of the whole of the strap system is to be manually pulled tight outward and with a hand catching hold of the free looped 5 end and then the loosened lever 15 has to be swung up, letting the strap 3 pinched immovable between the rough face of the lever 15 and the flat face 17 of the side projecting wall. The third strap 5 can be used auxiliary to tighten the whole strap system as well in the same way as the first strap 3 is tightened .
While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications which may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.

Claims
1. A construction of a strap tightener with three straps for binding materials comprising:
a first strap, a second strap and a third strap, a front tightener having a plate body, a first short rod and a second short rod fixed across the plate body, the first rod being in the front portion to be hooked by a looped end of the second strap, the second rod being in the rear portion so as to be wound around by the first strap, a pivotalrod attached across the plate body and located between the first and the second rod, a tightening lever pivotally connected with the pivotal rod so as tobe swung up and down with the pivotal rod as a pivot, a twisting spring fitted around the pivotal rod and having one end fixed on the lever for biasing the tightening lever to a pinching position, said tightening lever having a flat rough face at a lower end to face parallel to a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the plate body defining a gap between the flat rough face of the lever and the flat face of the lengthwise side projecting wall for the first strap to pass through and to be pinched immovably therein in the pinching position of the lever;
a rear tightener having a plate body, two short rods fixed across a front portion of the plate body a little spaced apart, a first one of said two rods nearer to a front end of the plate body than a second one, the first rod being hooked around by one looped end of the first strap, the second rod being wound around by the first strap, the second rod being wound around by the first strap, a pivotal rod attached across a rear portion of the plate body, a tightening lever pivotally connected with the pivotal rod so as to be swung up and down with the pivotal rod as a pivot, a twisting spring fitted around the pivotal rod and having one end fixed on the lever for biasing the tightening lever to a pinching position, said tightening lever having a flat rough face at lower end to face parallel to a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the plate body, defining a gap between the flat rough face of the lever and the flat face of the lengthwise side projecting wall for the third strap to pass through and be pinched immovably therein in the pinching position of the lever;
the three straps being connected with the front and the rear tighteners for binding materials, the first strap having one looped end hooked around the first rod of the rear tightener and the other free end passing through the gap between the lower end of the tightening lever and a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the front tightener so as to be pinched therein, and the first strap being wrapped around the second rod of the front tightener and the second rod of the rear tightener, the second strap having one looped end hooked around the first rod of the front tightener and the other end connected with a hook, the third strap having one end connected with a hook and the other free end passing through a gap between the lower end of the tightening lever and the lengthwise side projection wall of the rear tightener so as to be pinched therein; and whereby in use the hook of the third strap can be first hooked at one side of the material, the third strap can be overlaid on the material, the hook of the second strap can be hooked at the other side of the material, the other free end of the first strap can be pulled outward to tightenthe combination overlaid on the material, said tightening lever of the front tightener can be moved to the pinching position to lock the first strap immovably after the tightening, and the third strap can be used to tighten the combination.

a rear tightener having a plate body, two short rods fixed across a front portion of the plate body a little spaced apart, a first one of said two rods nearer to a front end of the plate body than a second one, the first rod being hooked around by one looped end of the first strap, the second rod being wound around by the first strap, the second rod being wound around by the first strap, a pivotal rod attached across a rear portion of the plate body, a tightening lever pivotally connected with the pivotal rod so as to be swung up and down with the pivotal rod as a pivot, a twisting spring fitted around the pivotal rod and having one end fixed on the lever for biasing the tightening lever to a pinching position, said tightening lever having a flat rough face at lower end to face parallel to a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the plate body, defining a gap between the flat rough face of the lever and the flat face of the lengthwise side projecting wall for the third strap to pass through and be pinched immovably therein in the pinching position of the lever;
the three straps being connected with the front and the rear tighteners for binding materials, the first strap having one looped end hooked around the first rod of the rear tightener and the other free end passing through the gap between the lower end of the tightening lever and a flat face of a lengthwise side projecting wall of the front tightener so as to be pinched therein, and the first strap being wrapped around the second rod of the front tightener and the second rod of the rear tightener, the second strap having one looped end hooked around the first rod of the front tightener and the other end connected with a hook, the third strap having one end connected with a hook and the other free end passing through a gap between the lower end of the tightening lever and the lengthwise side projection wall of the rear tightener so as to be pinched therein; and whereby in use the hook of the third strap can be first hooked at one side of the material, the third strap can be overlaid on the material, the hook of the second strap can be hooked at the other side of the material, the other free end of the first strap can be pulled outward to tightenthe combination overlaid on the material, said tightening lever of the front tightener can be moved to the pinching position to lock the first strap immovably after the tightening, and the third strap can be used to tighten the combination.
