Abstract
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A ball/ball retriever combination having a ball retriever which consists of an elongate member having opposed ends. A
tape fastener is affixed to at least one of the opposed ends of the elongate member. The ball consists of a spherical body having an exterior surface. The exterior surface of the spherical body has at least one zone covered with a material that adheres to the tape fastener on one of the opposed ends of the elongate member. The ball retriever is used to raise the ball from a groundsurface by bringing one of the opposed ends of the elongate member into contact with the adherent zone on the exterior surface of the ball.

Description
The present invention relates to a ball/ball retriever combination.
5 BACI~GROU17D OF T~E INVENTION
Senior citizens enjoy playing a variety of games in which a ball is tossed. Unfortunately, due to infirmities brought on by advancing age, it is sometimes difficult for the senior citizens to bend down to pick the balls up.
Ball retrievers are used for a variety of purposes. For example, in the game of golf, ball retrievers are used to recover golf balls which have come to rest in water hazards.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
What is required is a ball/ball retriever combination which is adapted for use by seniors when playing ball toss games.
According to the present invention there is provided a ball/ball retriever combination. The ball retriever is comprised of an elongate member having opposed ends. A tape fastener is affixed to at least one of the opposed ends of the elongate member. The ball is comprise of a spherical body having an exterior surface. The exterior surface of the spherical body has at least one zone covered with a material that adheres to the tape faRtener on one of the oppo~ed ends of the elongate member. The ball retriever is used to raise the ball from a groundsurface by bringing one of the opposed ends of the elongate member into contact with the adherent zone on the exterior surface of the ball.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF T~E DRAWINGS
These and other features of the invention will become more apparent from the following description in which reference is made to the appended drawings, wherein:
FIGURE I is a perspective view of a ball constructed in accordance with the teachings o~ the present invention.

FIGURE 2 is a section view of the ball illustrated in FIGURE 1.
FIGURE 3 is a perspective view of a ball retriever with the ball illustrated in FIGURE 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODI~ENq~
The preferred embodiment, a ball/ball retriever combination generally identified by reference numeral 10, will now be described with reference to FIGURES 1 through 3.
Ball/ball retriever combination 10 consists of a ball 12 and a ball retriever 14. Referring to FIGURE 3, ball retriever 14 is an elongate member 16 having opposed ends 18 and 20. A tape fastener 22 is affixed to end 20 of elongate member 16. Referring to FI~URE~ 1 and 2, ball 12 is a spherical body 24 having an exterior surface 26. Exterior surface 26 of spherical body 24 has at least one circular zone 28 covered with a material, such as a mating tape fastener, that adheres to tape fastener 22 on end 20 of elongate member 16.
The use and operation of ball/ball retriever combination 10 will now be described with reference to FIGURES 1 through 3. Referring to FIGURE 3, ball retriever 14 is used to raise ball 12 from a groundsurface by bringing tape fastener 22 on end 20 of elongate member 16 into contact with adherent zone 28 on exterior surface 26 of ball 12. Ball 12 then adheres to ball retriever 14 as ball retriever 14 is raised.
It will be apparent to one skilled in the art that modification may be made to the illustrated embodiment without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the claims.
