Abstract
ABSTRACT
In the world of multitudinous insect trapping devices, " The Original Winnipeg Backyard Mosquito Trap " or, " The Original Canadian Backyard Mosquito Trap "
as it is also called, stands out amongst competition by offering an alternative means of trapping insects.
By its unique principle of VACUUMING Mosquitoes, (and other-flying insects inclusive of Black Flies, Mushroom Flies, Canker Worm Moths, Cut Worm Moths -ad infinitum) the Trap will 'render harmless' untold numbers.
Not a poison of any kind, and not a 'Zapper' either, the trap quietly dehydratesat the bottom of a fabric bag, many flying insects lured to the vicinity of the Trap by the light bulb/heat signature.

l~ The Original Winnipeg Backyard Mosquito Trap " (Or, ll The Canadian Backyard Mosquito Trap ll as it is also called.~ consists of a modified Raincap ( a stove pipe rain cover) which houses a light socket and bulb affixed to the underside of the capl and a motor fan situated inside the body part of the housing which is suspended by four arms below the cap.
Flying insects -Mosquitoes and others- are attracted to the light buib's - lightand heat signature. The motor fan which blows air down through the housing causes a VACUUM effect up at the top of the housing underneath the cap and can therefore pull flying insects right out of the air. The insects are blown through the housing to the bottom of a fabric bag which skirts the tower part of the housing there to dehydrate quickly due to the constant air movement of the motor fan.
*see drawing #1 This invention is a l'Flying Insect Trap" (and Dehydrator).
The Trap is an effective alternative to Poisons and Zappsrs - both of which have limitations our Trap does not have ie toxidi~noise and smell. The simplicity of a light bulb providing an alluring attraction to flying insects, to then vacuum them into a bag to be dehydrated is an invention that stands as unique.
( We recommend to our customers that they simply feed thier tropical fish with the night's " trappings ".) The Original Winnipeg Backyard Mosquito Trap works well in anyone's backyard. The fact that the Trap will take ~osquitoes and other flying insects out of your immediate vicinity is a positive feature of the Trap, but moreso than -" A
Skeeter in the Bag Wonlt Bug You ! " - is the fact that any flying insects caught in the Trap won't lay eggs anymore either.

Further to people's use of our Trap's in their backyard is the commerc1al application of the Trap. A chi.,ken farmer will find our Traps useful inside the coop where there may be du7ens of flying insect types. A mushroom farmer can limit the damage to his crop, specifically due to mushroom flies, which our Trapworks for as weli. E3arns, stab1es and food storage facilities are all commerciai concerns that will benefit from ollr Trap. A further use for our Trap would be aFish farmer who wishing to feed his fish superior foodstuffs would use our modified Trap which, rather than blowing the flying insects into a bag, would blast them against the surface of the water where unable to fly, fish would eat them.
The uniqueness of the Trap as compared to other available methodologies for catching insects can be summed up as follows, 1) NOT a poison. (Not a gimmick either, it's a VACUUM.) 2~ ~:)oes NOT make noise (The computer ~an we use is actually QUIET.) 3) Causes NO oclerous waste.(The critters DEHYDRATE.) Our Trap is in short, an alternative to other existing insect control rnethods. In fact, our Trap works on the unique principal of " Operates as a flying insect VACUUM ".
