Abstract

ABSTRACT
An advertising support comprises a housing (1) with lateral edges which are designed to link up with further supports and are each provided with two supply rolls (3) that turn in the same direction, and can be reversed. The publicity material (7) is secured between two perforated adhesive viewing films (4) at a certain distance according to the width of the posters (7) to form insertion pockets of equal dimensions for receiving the posters (7). The web thus formed is then firmly bonded to a support film (8) facing the surface of the supply rolls (3). Metallic coding marks (9) are provided directly on the poster (7) in such a manner that the distance between said coding marks (9) can easily be modified without damaging the adhesive viewing film (4). The signals of the coding (g) are fed to the ROM memory of a CPU.
They cause both driving engines (11) to switch over to slow motion through the CPU shortly before the image position is reached. The viewing windows (12) are covered with one or several viewing films (13) which become transparent when a given voltage is applied and non-transparent when the voltage is switched off. The distance between the poster (7) and the viewing film (4) is such that the contrast transmission from the surface of the poster is reduced.

Description

ADVERTISING SUPPORT

The invention relates to an advertising support consisting of a housing having narrow lateral joints adapted for connection with further advertising supports, two supply rolls (3) separately drivable in the same but reversible direction, and a film belt (8) which can be wound to and fro and, where desired, is provided with a sound reproduction device (5), as used e.g. in advertising supports in supermarkets, often transilluminated from behind.
Such an advertising support is known e.g. from DE-OS 36 25 969, which document is itself based on DE-OS 30 35 694.
By a device according to this document, which describes a transilluminatable advertising support provided with a film belt of finite length and which is controlled according to code marks placed on the film belt, including reversible drive, a precise movement of the belt with uniform standstill times can be achieved.
The solution is characterized by the fact that the film ~0 belt is a combination of a transparent layer and a white reflecting layer and that between the two layers the poster material is aligned and inserted after a code mark and fixed by the two layers.
The disadvantage this concept is that the initial manual, and often mechanical, control does not result in the expected posi~ioning of the frames, so that in a multitude of devices combined in series, the source of error of inadequate picture position becomes ever larger with increasing length of the combination ~ormed by individual advertising supports. This makes itself felt particularly in the switching of the advance speeds from quick to slow until stop and also in reverse.
From these disadvantages results as an object of the present invention to describe an advertising support of the abovementioned type which also in long combinations of equal devices ensures adjustment of framing conditions to a minimum plus deviation.
2 ~ 7 Further, the often disturbing visibility of frame misalignment is to be avoided.
This problem is solved for the above-mentioned advertising support by the fact that the advertising material is insertable between two perforated adhesive viewing foils, which are heat-sealed or glued together at a distance of the width o~ the advertising material to form isometric insertion pockets and provided to receive the advertising material, and that the so formed tape is glued firmly to a supporting foil, or that the advertising material is arranged above the adhesive foil on the supporting foil, that at least two metal code marks are provided on the advertising material, which actuate a proximity switch, the signals being respectively read into and detected by the ROM of the CPU, that two speeds - quick and slow advance - are provided, and shortly before the frame position is reached the two drive motors for its adjustment to maximally ~5/10 mm switch via the CPU to slow advance, and that one or more viewing foils are glued to the viewing window which upon application of a voltage from 50 to 100 Hz and 100 to 200 V become transparent and upon deenergizing become opaque, the advertising material being placed at a distance from the viewing window which is necessary to suppress contrast emission from the advertising material surface.
Summing up, it may be stated for this combination of features that the placing of the advertising material between two viewing foils means its complete protection, the perforation of the foils preventing trapping of air in the pocket during quick rewinding of the foils.
The code marks are placed directly on the advertising material, i.e. not on the belt. They actuate a proximity switch, the signals being detected in a central CPU (computer unit) through which shortly ~efore the framing position is reached the advance speed is switched to slow for adjustment to a maximum plus tolerance.
The function of the viewing window is self-evident from the combination of features.

2~6~

It may further be provided in the scope of the above combination of features that the film belt can be wound back picture for picture or quickly.
The positioning of the frame sequence may be adjusted independently of the particular order of succession.
This is rendered possible by the central CPU counting the marks of each advertising support according to its position into the ROM of the control unit, so that each advertising material is identified by the program stored in the EPROM and chosen or, if necessary, corrected.
As to the further technical design it is pointed out that the CPU may operate ~0 to 150 devices, which move synchronously, the individual units being so constructed that they form a row of images without visible distances between the individual modules.
As to the precision of adjustment of the frame position to a degree not exceeding a particular plus measure by the two motors controlled by the CPU, this is necessary because a text running e.g. over 40 units is to be shown exactly without distortions, e.g. a text like _ 1 2 3 4 5 6 _ __ _ _ ~

Coo a Col a is good thing composed by the individual units, i.e. the individual equal modules~
This should be extendable o~er further modules.
Xn conclusion, a peculiarity of the invention is ref~rred to, providing equipment for the individual modules in order to avoid personal injury, for cushioning, with gas pressure springs; which absorb the energy of an impact and a~terwards restore the modules to their normal position. This is of ; great importance particularly in the equipment of sports fields, where the advertising supports form practically the boundary, since the impact of players or balls can be cushioned to such a degree that no serious injuries of such ~6~7 persons may occur and damaging of the individual modules is practically precludedO
The inventlon is further explained by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Fig. 1 shows a sectional view through the casing of a advertising support.

Fig. 2 shows the section "X" of Fig. 1.

The housing 1 is provided with lateral joints 2 for connection with ~urther supports according to Fig. 1 and with two supply rolls 3 separately drivable in the same but reversible direction, each receiving in its interior a drive motor 11, whereby the two rolls support an endless belt comprising two perforated adhesive foils 13, which are welded ; or glued at distance corresponding to the width of the advertising material 7 to form insert pockets of identical dimensions, which is further connected with a supporting foil 8 directed towards the surfaces of the supply rolls 3.
The advertising material 7, generally posters, is by the adhesive qualities of the viewing foil safely positioned in the pockets.
On the advertising material 7 at least two code marks 9 are fastened at a distance from one another, which actuate a proximity switch 10. The signals emanating ~rom this switch are read into the ROM of the CPU and give pulses for switching the drive motors 11 from quick to slow advance, so that adjustment of the picture position to maximally +5/10 mm may be achieved.
The face of the casing 1 is covered by a viewing window 12 to which one or more viewing foils 13 are glued~ Upon application of a voltage of a ~requency of 50 to 100 Hz and 100 to 200 V to the viewing foils 13 these become transparent and upon deenergizing they become opaque again.
In this respect, it is necessary that the viewing foils have a distance relative to the advertising material 7, which 2 ~ 7 distance is dimensioned in such a way that the contrast emission from the advertising material surface is suppressed.
The drive system is controllable in such manner as to switch the film belts, together with the supporting foil 8, to be rewound image for image or to quick rewinding.
For the functioning of the device it is important that the code mark of each advertising support ~poster) 7 is counted by the central CPU according to its position into the ROM of the control unit, 50 that each advertising material 7 is identified in the program stored in the EPROM and chosen/
corrected.
Particular importance must be attributed to the advertising material 7 when used as a boundary of sports fields, where such devices generally form the limitation of the play area. The individual casings 1 connected with one another are then essentially safeguarded by the cushioning provided by the gas pressure springs 14 in order to prevent personal injury, the energy of impact being absorbed and the respective casing or casings 1 being restored subsequently to its or their normal position.
