Abstract
PARALLELEPIPEDIC TRANSPORT CONTAINER.
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE.
A parallelepipedic transport container for moisture emitting goods, particularly fish, said container comprising side walls, end walls, a bottom wall, and at least one bevelled substantially vertical corner face, said corner face being provided with at least one draining outlet near the bottom wall, and the lower portion of the bottom wall of said container is externally recessed for secure stacking on top of another container. In a preferred embodiment, the recess in the bottom of the at least one bevelled corner face, is formed with a drop nose and said at least one draining outlet is disposed above said drop nose of said bevelled corner face. Further, in a preferred embodiment, the container includes lifting handles and/or fork lift insertion slots.

Description
2 ~ 5 9 7 7 3 The present invention relates to a parallelepip~dic ~ ~
transport container for moisture emitting goods, 1: ;
particularly fish. -The area of usage for such containers is primarily long-distance transport of fish, i.e., transport of fish from the unloading point for the fishiny vessel to a remote ~ -~
destination. The dimensions of the container are preferably ~ -selected to provide for an optimal degree oP filling w:ithin : :
a 20 and 40 feet ship container.
A maJor problem wlth ~uch transport ,cont~i~ers ls that the flsh emlts molsture durln~ the transport. Thls molsture problem wlll of course be lncreased if pieces of lce are lS placed ln the contalner to~ether wlth the flsh. I~ adequste dralnag~ of the transport contalner 19 not provlded for, the quallt~ of the flsh -- partlcularl~ that portlo~ l~lng closest to the botto~ -- could be severel~ reduced. In addltlo~, there 1~ a te~denc~ for water from transport contal~ers located higher up to run dow~ into the transport co~talners positloned lower down, thus further a~gravatin~
the above problem.
An addltlonal concer~ wlth tra~sport containers of thls type 19 to attain sufficient ~tacking str~n~th whe~ a plurallty of contal~ers is stacked on top of o~e another. The handle openlngs, in particular, ha~e contrlbuted to dlminished ~ts~ str~n~th for th~ contai~r~
30 It is an object of the present invention to obviate or ;~
mitigate at least one of the above-mentioned disadvantages. :. ~
The present invention provides effective drainage of liquid .: - -;
5 from the containers in a manner which prevents said liquid from running down into the container situated below. At the ~ :
I same time, in its preferred embodiment, the container i exhibits good stacking strength without increasing the amount o~ plastic needed for the production of the container.
2 2~9773 According to th~ present invention, ther2 i~ provided a parallelepipedic transport container ~or mo.isture emitting goods, particularly fish, said container co~prising ~ide walls, end walls, a bottom wall and at lea t one bevelled S substantially vertical corner face, said corner face being provided with at least on~ draining outl~t near the botto~
wall! and the lower portion of th~ bottom wall of said contain~r i~ externally recessed for ~ecure ~tacking on top of another container.

indicated generally at l in Figure l. The container has a parallelepipedic form with two side walls 2 and two end walls 3 and a water-tight bottom wall 4. The con-ainer is ;
open at the top. As is particularly apparent from figure 3, all of the corners are bevelled and, while not ess~ntial, this is the presently preferred embodiment of the invention.
In each of the bevelled corner faces 5, a draining outlet 6 is disposed near the bottom wall, which outlet 6 passes through the wall of the container from the inside to the outside. As is apparent from figures 4 and 5, the sides and end of the container have the form of double walls, with an outer wall 7 and an inner wall 8r The draining outlets 6 are formed by a sleeve 9 extending from the outer wall 7 to the i~nar wall 8. As is particularly apparent from figure 2, the bottom 4 is domed, i.e., it is generally convex toward the inside of the container. At each corner there is a depression lO. This domed bottom and the depressed area lO at each corner, together with the draining outlets 6, serve to prevent substantially the collection of any water in the bottom of tha container. Thus, even if some liquid were to fo~m inside the container by th~ melting of ice ~ -30 and/or the emission of liquid from the fish, even the lowest ~

Each depression 24 includes fastener means 26 for insertlon of marking means Z5 such ~s a daymark or tag. The tag provides information of the datum the goods were caught, type of goods etc.
The above described depresslons 23, 24 and the sleeve 20 provlde further strength and rigidity to the container in that the inner and outer walls of the container are inter~
connected at addltional locatlons. These features increase the ablllty of the containers to be stacked in height-with heavy loads without deformlng the contalner.
