Abstract
COMPUTER PRINTER
WIRE BASKET ADAPTER
ABSTRACT
In a tool, to allow the adding of a computer output wire basket to computer printers, it is known to have a flat surface made of wood, metal or other rigid material onto which the printer sits. An opening approximately 5 inches x 17 inches or 2 inches x 17 inches is cut near the center to allow bottom paper feed while the printer is in operation. Two holes are drilled towards the rear of the flat surface to allow the mounting of a computer output wire basket.
A vertical support piece which comprises the adapter extends at 90 degrees from underneath and at the back of the flat surface. This extension allows for placement of the adapter flush against the rear of a supporting desk or other surface, and also supports the wire basket in a vertical position while mounted in the two drilled holes at the rear of the flat surface of the adapter.
The underside of the flat surface of the wire basket adapter may have bumpers of rubber, cork or other material which creates friction to prevent lateral movement of the adapter while the printer is in operation.

WIRE BASRET ADAPTER
STATEMENT
The subject matter of this invention is an adapter which allows the adding of an output wire basket to any computer printer having rear or bottom feed for the continuous paper input. The adapter can be made of wood or metal and sits directly underneath the printer in order to support the wire basket suspended in the rear by means of two holes drilled in the adapter.
The objective of the invention is to allow the addition of a wire output basket to any computer printer while resting on any table surface thereby eliminating the need of a specific printer stand which normally comes with a basket.
The adapter can also be suspended between two tables or other surfaces of equal height thereby saving desk surface normally required for the printer. The invention can be used with any manufacturer's model computer printer regardless of speed or size.
The features of the invention that are new and distinguish it from what was available before, is in the fact that before the results could only be accomplished by placing the printer onto an expensive self standing printer stand with wire basket hanging on the rear of the stand. This invention simulates a table surface and can be manufactured of wood, metal or other sturdy material. The 5 inches x 17 inches or 2 inches x 17 inches opening cut approximately in the center of the adapter allows for the bottom paper feed. The two holes drilled near the rear allows for the wire basket mounting.
20~9521 This invention is simple, economical and will work with any printer while the stands are usually specifically designed to fit the various printer models. The stands may have to be of different heights or different surface design to accommodate the specific printer models.
I have disclosed this invention to "Custom Computer Furniture" and "L. Ferri ~itchens" of Brampton, Ontario.

WIRE BASKET ADAPTER
SPECIFICATION
This invention relates to a tool which allows the adding of a computer output paper wire basket to any computer printer.
It is common for most computer printers not to allow for wire baskets to hang directly onto the rear of the printer mechanism. It is therefore necessary to provide a special separate self standing printer stand that has a wire basket incorporated in its construction. Printer stands, however, are very expensive and have to be designed specifically to fit the various types, shapes and sizes of computer printers.
I have found that this wire basket adapter invention allows the adding of a computer output paper wire basket to any computer printer. The adapter permits any computer printer to rest on it while providing rigid and firm support for the wire basket positioned behind th~ printer in such a way as to catch the computer output paper running through the printer mechanism. This computer printer wire basket adapter is considerably more economical than a standalone self standing printer stand. Also this adapter can actually save the desktop space the printer would normally occupy, if the adapter is suspended between two other surfaces of equal height.

In drawings which illustrate the embodiment of this invention, Figure 1 is a three dimensional view of the embodiment and Figure 2 shows how the inventions is used suspended between two surfaces of equal height.
The wire basket adapter illustrated comprises a flat piece of wood, metal or other rigid material approximatèly 25 inches x 19 inches and varying thicknesses depending on the construction material. The 5 inches x 17 inches or 2 inches x 17 inches opening (2) is cut at approximately the center of the flat surface (4). The two holes (5) are drilled on the side where the basket (1) is mounted. The holes (5) are centered to flat surface (4) and wide enough apart to accommodate wire basket (1).
Piece (3) is firmly attached to flat surface (4) and is used to support wire basket (1) in a vertical Dosition.

Claims (4)
1. An adapter which allows the adding of a computer output paper wire basket to any computer printer and which is mounted on any table or desk surface directly below and between the printer and the table or desk surface.
2. An adapter which can be suspended between two flat surfaces (7) of equal height with the printer resting on the top of the adapter. In this mode of use the adapter saves desktop space and allows paper feeding from below.
3. An adapter which can have supporting sides the same height as the wire basket support. The sides would elevate the adapter and create a 5 inch space between the adapter and the tabletop allowing for paper to be stacked below it.
4. An adapter which allows the adding of a computer output paper wire basket to any computer printer and which is mounted between the printer and a printer stand already having bottom feed slot but no wire basket provisions.
