ABSTRACT
In a stand for supporting intra-venous equipment in an elevated position the user is enabled to walk and move about more easily and in greater security.
Description
S}~ CIFICATION
(1) This invention relates to a mobile intra-venous stand.
(1) This invention relates to a mobile intra-venous stand.
(2) It is common for mobile intra-venous stands to comprise of a single pole from which intra-venous equipment is suspended, the pole being supported by a metal base to which castors are affixed. The user of the existing intra-venous stands must, when walking, hold the pole and guidethe stand while avoiding collision of his or her feet with the base of the stand. Usually in order to keep the base of the stand away from the user's feet it is necessary to grasp the intra-venous pole with one hand at arm's length.
(3) I have found that these disadvantages may be overcome by providing for the intra-venous suspension device to be fixed to a stand constructed in such manner that the user can grasp the mobile stand using both hands, thus steering the stand more certainly, with the stand itself providing greater support for the user when walking and allowing the user to step forward without colliding as frequently if at all with the base of the stand.
(4) In drawings which illustrate embodiments of the invention Figure 1 is both an elevation and a full perspective of the embodi-ment No. 1 indicates the basic frame of the mobile unit No. 2 indicates the steering and support handles No. 3 indicates the front wheel which supports the mobile unit and which swivels allowing for the steering of the unit No. 4 indicates the back wheels which are in a fixed position and support the unit ; 20~32~8 No. 5 indicates a tray for carrying incidentals No. 6 indicates the upright mast supporting intra-venous equipment.
Claims
(5) The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
a. A device made of metal or metal and plastic for securely transporting intravenous appararatus for a patient connected to the apparatus and receiving intravenous fluids while allowing the patient to walk with greater comfort and security.
b. A device made of metal or metal and plastic for securely transporting intravenous apparatus for a patient connected to the apparatus and receiving intravenous fluids allowing the patient to be more mobile and at the same time transport incidental items of comfort to the patient.
