A method for decontaminating PCB containing transformers. The trans-former is initially cleaned using a vapor degreasing solvent. The internal parts are removed and given a second cleaning which combines vapor degreasing with mechanical tumbling. The transformer and its parts are cleaned to less than 10,µg / 100cm2 PCB. These cleaned parts are reclaimed rather than disposed of as toxic waste.
