SPORT PAD
BACKGROUN~ OF T~IE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a pad, and more particularly to a sport pad.
In order to prevent an athlete from being hurt by a sudden force-impact, the athlete is always advised to wear a sport pad which inserts therein a plurality of hard plastic pieces each of which is not so pliable that it can readily conform itself to the action of the athlete. In addition, various plastic pieces of different shape and/or curvature are required for various sport pads of such kind, which are thus not cost-effective.
In order to deal with the above situation, the sport pad is designed to include a base piece adhering thereon a plurality of plastic bars.
Such sport pad, however, is not ideal in protection since only a small portion of the plastic bars will absorb the impact force so that the athlete wearing such sport pad may still get hurt.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a sport pad which is relatively pliable.
It is further an object of the present invention to provide a sport pad which is cost-effective and sound in protection.
According to the present invention, a sport pad includes a base piece having thereon a plurality of parallelly spaced grooves and projection in which the base piece attaches thereunder a reinforcing net and integrally forms thereto the projections.
The present invention may best be understood through the following descriptions with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig, 1 is a partial plane view showing a sport pad according to the prior art;

Fig. 8 is a plane view showing a second preferred embodiment of a sport pad according to the present invention; and Fig. 9 is a plane view showing a reinforcing net for a sport pad according to the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED E~lBODIMENT
Referring now to Figs. 5-7, a sport pad according to the present invention includes a base piece 61 attaching thereunder a reinforcing net 62, having thereon a plurality of parallelly spaced and cross-sectionally V-shaped grooves 52, and integrally forming thereto a plurality of parallelly spaced and cross-sectionally trapezoidal projections 51.
The present sport pad can be obtained by firstly forming a plate piece of a synthetic resin formed by PE and nylon and then notching on the plate piece as desired in order to obtain base piece 61 and projections 51 as shown. The reinforcing net 62 is attached to the base piece 61 for reinforcing base piece 61.
As shown in Fig. 8l if more pliable is desired, the plate piece can further be provided with a plurality of parallelly spaced and cross-sectionally V-shaped grooves perpendicular to grooves 52 so that each projection is truncated pyramid-shaped.
Fig, 9 shows a reinforcing net for a sport pad according to the present invention.
The distance between every adjacent two grooves can be varied accord;ng to the need of a particular sport pad. For example, a chest pad or a back pad is only subject to a small curvature during the period of its being used so that it needs only to be one-directionally grooved. In contrast to a chest or back pad, a knee pad is preferably designed in the form as shown in Fig. 8, i.e. the knee pad is two or more-directionally grooved so that the knee pad can easily conform itself to the shape and the action of the knee of the wearer who will not feel uncomfortable upon wearing a knee pad according to the present invention. In addition, since base piece 61 integrally forms thereto projections 51, every projection 51 will take part in absorbing the impact force happened to the present sport pad.
It should be noticed that various modifications can be made to the above described sport pad according to the present invention without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention which is defined in the appended claims.
