Abstract
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A dart game toy that is suitable for simulating the popular bowling games, it comprises a dart, and a target board with representations of bowling pins. One game play consists of a set of sequential dart throwings being thrown by one player. The objective is to have the initial dart landed on the strike target zone on the target board. If the dart is landed in the strike target zone, the player scores a "strike" as in bowling, if outside the strike target zone the player will throw a second dart at other target zones in an attempt to score a "spare" as in bowling by landing a dart in a target zone which when added to the results of the first throw would count as a spare. When simulating ten pin bowling two dart throws would be allowed, and when simulating five pin bowling three dart throws would be allowed. The games rules are such that players will use regular bowling score sheets and a game will consist of ten plays by each player as in bowling.

Description
DISCLOSURE ~ 5 This invention relates to a dart game. In the present invention dart games are to be interpreted broadly as games in which objects, to be called darts, are launched in some fashion and manner into some direction, either substantially horizontal, vertical or other angle, with an objective to have the objects or darts landed in specific areas or locations to be called target zones on a target board or dartboard.
Target zones may have varying shapes of either the flat, the protruding, or the recessed. The present invention comprises a dart game which simulates the game of bowling by having target areas and scoring systems similar to that of bowling.
In general, the main objective of the conventional dart games is to measure and compare the skill of dart throwing. Although the objective itself has good recreational value, the conventional game does not allow individuals the ability to combine the skill of dart throwing with other recreational activities and scoring systems of which they are familiar. Many individuals who would wish to test their dart throwing skill are not familiar with the conventional scoring system and cannot relate it to other activities in which they partake. Although other dartboard games exist which attempt to simulate various sports, none simulates bowling, the present invention will allow individuals who partake in the sport of bowling to play a dart game which relates to bowling and has a similar scoring system. The target zone placements and sizes are determined in a manner so as to simulate the target zones and difficulties in the sport of bowling. This dart game may also be used to teach the bowling scoring system to individuals unfamiliar with the game of bowling.
The main objective of the present invention is to devise dart throwing games that combine the skill of darts with the familiarity and scoring system of the popular sport of bowling. The sport of bowling requires an individual to go to a large recreational facility in order to play, the current invention will allow people to play a version of that sport in their own homes at any time they wish by playing the invented dart games. Another objective of the invention is to provide opportunities for people to learn, study and appreciate the rules, scoring system and game of bowling through playing the simulated games embodied after the present invention.
The invention consists of a target board to which launched darts will attach. The target board has target zones which simulate those in the sport of bowling and allow for the use of a scoring system similar to that used in bowling.
The details of the features and advantages of the present invention will be further clarified in the following description and drawings.

x~ s DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
In drawings which illustrate embodiments of the invention, Figure 1 is a front view of the dart board target surface for simulating the game of five pin bowling.
Figure 2 is a front view of the dart board target surface for simulating the game of ten pin bowling.
The game boards shown in figures 1 and 2 illustrate target pieces that take the shapes of bowling pins and related target zones. If a player lands a dart in a "Gutter Ball" zone, no points are awarded, however, if a dart lands in one of the other zones a player may score a strike, a spare (with a combination of two darts) or simply one point for each pin credited as being eliminated by landing a dart on the particular target zone. For example, a dart landing in target zone "A" of Figure 1 would score a strike, while a dart landing in target zone "B" of Figure 1 would score only the right hand side number 2 pin and 3 pin. A dart landing in target zone "C" of Figure 2 would score the 1,2,3,5,8 &
9 pins for a score of six, while a dart landing in target zone "D" would score only the 10 pin for one point.
