When a hot water heater with a single pipe at top is installed it will syphon out the water when the water is shut off at the curb or main water supply is broken. The element comes on in the empty tank and soon burns out. This fitting prevents this.

HOW I T WORKS:
Whe~ a hot water heater with a single pipe at top is installed it will syphon out the water when the water is shut off at the curb or main water supply is broken. The element comes on in the empty tank and soon burns out. This fitting prevents this. When installed with the plastic pipe going down into the tank the anti-syphon hole is uncovered and syphoning stops. Both hot and cold water use the same opening without loss of volume or pressure or temperature. Openings in plastic insulator make it easy to attach pressure and temperature release valve and other tappings can be made on block if desired. Also all hot water tanks can be made with only one pipe if this fitting is used.
Check valve does not solve this matter as it causes a drip or tank can bust if pressure and temperature valve is stuck shut.

Claims (6)

1. When installed with the plastic pipe going down into the tank [refer to (A) on enclosed drawing] the anti-syphon hole [refer to (B) on enclosed drawing] is uncovered and syphoning stops.
2. Both hot and cold water use the same opening without loss of volume or pressure or temperature.
3. Openings in plastic insulator make it easy to attach pressure and temperature release valve [refer to (C) on enclosed drawing]
and other tappings can be made on block if desired.
4. Also all hot water tanks can be made with only one pipe if this fitting is used.
5. Check valve does not solve this matter as it causes a drip or tank can bust if pressure and temperature valve is stuck shut.
