Abstract

Abstract of the Disclosure A grinding tool wherein an auxiliary member is provided between a disc pad and grinding member, the above mentioned disc pad and auxiliary member are combined with each other through a surface fastener and the auxiliary member and grinding member are peelably bonded with each other through a pressure sensitive bonding agent.

Description

This invention relates to a grinding tool to be used in such mechanical grinding works as of a disc sander, disc grinder and polisher.

Such grinding tool as a disc pad or sanding pad to be used in such mechanical grinding works as of a disc sander, disc grinder and polisher is used with such grinding member as grinding cloth or paper fitted on its lower surface.

When the grinding capacity of the fitted grinding member reduces, the grinding member will have to be replaced. In fitting such grinding member as the above mentioned grinding cloth or paper to a disc pad, sanding pad or the like, there have been already adopted a method by bonding and a method by using a separable surface fastener.

As the above mentioned methods by bonding, there are adopted a method wherein a disc pad or sanding pad is painted on the lower surface with a solvent paste and such grinding member as grinding cloth or paper is bonded to the lower surface and a method wherein such grinding member as grinding cloth or paper painted on the back surface with a pressure sensitive bonding agent in ~.

advance is pasted on the lower surface of a disc pad or sanding pad.
However, the method by bonding using a solvent paste has defects that it takes time to dry the paste and that the method is not adapted to a continuous work.
Also, in the method wherein such grinding member as grinding cloth or paper painted on the back surface with a pressure sensitive bonding agent in advance is used, it is necessary to paint the produced grinding member on the back surface with the presssure sensitive bonding agent and to further paste peeling paper to the back surface, it- requires a trouble to manufacture the grinding member which is thus costly, it is difficult to peel the peeling paper off the back surface and replace the grinding member while wearing working gloves during the work, when the grinding capacity reduces, the grinding member, though retaining the bonding capacity, will have to be abandoned and it has been uneconomical.
In the method wherein the above mentioned separable suface fastener is used, for example, a male piece of the separable surface fastener is provided on the lower surface of the disc pad or sanding pad and a female piece of the surface fastener engaging with the above mentioned male piece is provided cn the back surface of the grinding member so as to be combined with each other.
According to this method, it is very easy to replace the grinding member but, as one side of the fastener, for example, the female piece is formed integrally with the grinding member, the female piece of the surface fastener will be abandoned simultaneously with replacing the grinding member and it has been very uneconomical.

In the present invention, a surface fastener and pressure sensitive bonding agent are effectively combined with each other. That is to say, in the present invention, the grinding member can be replaced in either of the surface fastener part and pressure sensitive bonding agent part, the efficiency of the grinding work can be elevated, it is not necessary to abandon the surface fastener whenever the grinding member is replaced and it is economical.

The grinding tool of the present invention comprises a disc pad provided on the lower surface with one side of a surface fastener, an auxiliary member provided on the upper surface with the other side of the surface fastener connected with the above mentioned side of the surface fastener and painted on the lower surface with a pressure sensitive bondinq agent and a grinding member peelably pasted to the pressure sensitive bonding agent part.

Fig. 1 is a disassembled view of the present invention.

Fig. 2 is a magnified sectioned view of an essential part.

~i ~!

The present invention shall be explained in detail in the following on the basis of the embodiment shown in the drawings.
Fig.l is a disassembled view of a grinding tool of the present invention.
In the drawings, the reference numeral represents a disc pad or sanding pad which is formed of a substrate 3 having a fitting screw 2 connected to a rotary part of a machine and such cushioning member 4 as a sponge rubber fitted to the lower surface and is fitted with one side of a surface fastener 6, for example, with a male piece 7 through a bonding agent 5.
In the present invention, the male piece 7 of the above mentioned fastener 6 may be perfectly bonded.
By the way, in the embodiment shown in the drawing, the male piece 7 of the above mentioned surface fastener 6 is formed by erecting rigid linear projections.
In the drawings, the reference numeral 8 represents an auxiliary member which is provided on the upper surface with a male piece 9 connected with the male piece 7 of the above mentioned surface fastener 6 and is painted on the lower surface with a replaceable pressure sensitive bonding agent 10.
By the way, in the embodiment shown in the drawing, the female piece 9 of the above mentioned fastener 6 is formed by erecting a fiber assembly of a coarse structure.
Also, the pressure sensitive bonding agent 10 can be bonded with an object to be pasted when pressed, can befurther peeled off, can not be easily dried and is called also a non-drying bonding agent.
In the drawings, the reference numeral 11 represents peeling paper pasted to the above mentioned pressure sensitive bonding agent 10 and peeled and removed when a later described grinding member 12 is pasted.
This peeling paper 11 may be formed to be rather larger than the auxiliary member 8 in order to be easy to peel. Further, tongue pieces projecting from the periphery of the auxiliary member 8 may be provided in a part of the peeling paper 11.
If the whole of the auxiliary member 8 is formed to be somewhat larger than the lower surface of the disc pad 1, the later described auxiliary member 8 replacing work will be easy.
In the drawings, the reference numeral 12 represents grinding cloth or paper fitted on the lower surface with honing grains 13 of a predetermined granularity by a binder.
In the present invention, as shown in Fig.2, the male piece 7 of the surface fastener 6 provided on the lower surface of the disc pad 1 and the female piece 9 of the surface fastener 6 provided on the upper surface of the auxiliary member 8 are combined with each other and the grinding member 12 is pasted to the pressure sensitive bonding agent 10 -part applied in advance to paint the lower surface of the auxiliary member 8 so as to be used.
Needless to say, in fact, prior to the grinding work, the grinding member 12 is pasted to the lower ~ 1 325887 surface of the auxiliary member 8 and then the male piece 7 of the surface fastener on the lower surface of the disc pad 1 and the female piece 9 of the surface fastener 6 on the upper surface of the auxiliary member 8 are combined with each other to be used.
If a plurality of the auxiliary members 8 are prepared and various kinds of the grinding members 12 are pasted to the respective auxiliary members 8, such grinding works as a coarse grinding and finish grinding will be able to be made by one touch by changing the combination of the disc pad l with the surface fastener 6 of the auxiliary member 8 and the efficiency of the work will be able to be elevated.
In case the grinding capacity of the grinding me~oer becomes nil, the grinding member 12 will be peeled off the auxiliary member 8 and another grinding member 12 will be pasted to the pressure sensitive bonding agent 10 part on the lower surface of the auxiliary member 8.
When the use is continued several times, the pressure sensitive bonding agent 10 on the lower surface of the auxiliary member 8 will be stained or deteriorated with the grinding powder or the like and the bonding capacity will be lost. At this time, the auxiliary member 8 will be replaced. That is to say, in the present invention, as the grinding member 12 and surface fastener 6 are not integral with each other, whenever the grindning member 12 is replaced, either side of the surface fastener 6 need not be abandoned. It is economical.
By the way, in Fig.2, the disc pad 1 and auxiliary member 8 are combined with each other by the entanglement of the male piece 7 consisting of rigid linear projections with the female piece 9 consisting of a fiber assembly and the combination seems to be insufficient but, at the time of the grinding work, the auxiliary member 8 and the disc pad 1 will be pressed by the objecgt being ground and will not be likely to be separated from each other but, on the contrary, will be very easy to remove.
Also, as shown in Fig.2, there are effects that, if a gap 44 is formed between the disc pad l and auxiliary member 8, the radiation of heat from the auxiliary member 8 heated at the time of the work will be promoted, the auxiliary member 8 will not be heated more than is required, the binder of the honing grains 13 of the grinding member 12 will be prevented from being softened and melted by the accumulated heat and the honing grains will able to be prevented from dropping.
That is to say, there are obtained effects that the grinding capacity can be prevented from being reduced by the drop of the honing grains, the durability of the grinding member 12 can be elevated and it is economical.
