The CPU 7 then causes the display device 8 to display the data formed by the display data converting means 6.

, . 1 3075q2 1Being arranged in a manner as described ahove, the conventional operation guidance display apparatus has had a problem in that an operator is required to operate to judge whether a system is to be started or to be stopped 5and to select start or stop guidance at the time of the starting or stopping of the system respectively, so that a mal-operation may be caused by a mistake in judge~ent by the operator.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
10It is therefore an object of the present invention to solve the foregoing problem with the prior art.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a guidance display apparatus in which whether a target system is proceeding in the direction of starting 15or stopping the target system can be automatically judged, for example, on the basis o~ the state of the target system so that an operation guidance message in the direction of proceeding of the target system can be displayed.
20~he guidance display apparatus according to the present invention comprlses, in addition to the judging means provided in the conventional operation yuidance display apparatus, an operational direction judging means for judging the direction along which the operation of a 25target system is proceeding on the basis o~ signals respectively representing present and preceding states of the target system.
A

1 3075~2 1 In the guidance display apparatus according to the present invention, the foregoing operational direction judging means is provided so that the direction along which the operation of a target system is proceeding can be judged and a proper operation guidance message in the direction along which the operation of the target system is proceeding can be displayed without requiring an operator to judge the running state of the target system.
Accordingly, in one of its aspects the invention resides in a guidance display apparatus for displaying a succeeding operation to be executed in the form of a message with respect to a target system which is operable in a plurality of states which are changeable in ; accordance with its operation, comprising bit input means 1~ for receiving a system state signal at least partially representing the current state of said target system;
operating means for generating state signals representing the current state of at least one element of said target system whose status is periodically sampled; system state judging means for judging the current state of said target system according to said system state signal and state signals obtained from said bit input means and from said 1 :~075~2 - 6a -1 operating means, respectively, and generating a current state information signal indicative o~ said current state;
operation direction judging means for judging the direction in which said target system is proceeding in response to the current state information signal generated by said system state judging means and at least one prior state information signal, and for generating an operational direction signal; succeeding operation judging means for judging a succeeding operation to be executed by said operator according to the operational direction signal generated by said operational direction judging means; display data converting means for converting said succeeding operation judged by said succeeding operation judging means into character data to be displayed; a CPU
for controlling a sequence of execution by said system state judging means, said operational direction judging means, said succeeding operation judging means, and said display data converting means; and display means for displaying operational gui.dance corresponding to said character data transferred through said CPU.

- 6b -An embodiment of the present invention will be described hereunder with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 is a block diagram showing a guidance display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention. In the drawing, the guidance display apparatus is constituted by an A/D converter 2 ~or converting an analog signal representing a measurement 1~ value or the like at an observation point in a target system into a digital signal, a bit input unit 3 for receiving a signal representing the state of the target 1 3075q2 1 system~ a system state judging means 4 for judging the state of the target system on the basis of the system state signal applied to the bit input unit 3 and the digital signal produced from the A/D converter 2, an operational direction judging means 30 for judging the direction alon~ which the operation of the target system is proceeding on the basis of the state obtained through the judgement by the system state judging means 4, a succeeding operation judging means 5 for judging the succeeding operation required in the system operation proceeding direction judged by the operational direction judging means 30, a display data converting means 6 for converting the succeeding operation judged by the succeeding operation judging means 5 into data to be displayed as a guidance message, a CPU 7 for performing a sequence o control for the system state judging means 4, the operational direction judging means 30, the succeeding operation judging means 5 and the display data converting ; means 6, and a display device 8 for displaying the results of operation executed by the CPU 7.
~he operation of the foregoing embodiment will be described.
Assume now that the guidance display apparatus according to the present invention is used for operation 2S guidance for starting/stopping of a no-break power unit as - 8 l 307592 l shown in Fig. 2. The operation guidance for the no-break power unit is determined by the system state judging means 4, the operational direction judging means 30, the succeeding operation judging means 5, and the displaying data convertin~ means 6 in such a manner as shown in the flowchart ~f Fig. 3.
In Fig. 2, assume that the no~break power unit is started by turning the switch 20, the switch 21, and the switch 22 on in the stated order, and it is stopped by turning the switch 22, the switch 21, and the switch 20 off in the stated order. In Fig. 3, sampled state signals ; representing the present states of the respective switches 20, 21, and 22 are fetched through the A/D converter 2 and the bit input unit 3 .in a Step 10~ The present sampled state signals are compared with preceding sampled state signals to thereby judge whether there exists any chanye in the state of the sy.stem or not in a Step 11. If the judgement proves that there exists no change in the state of the system, the operation is shifted to a Step 17, and the present guidance message is displayed continuously as it is. If the judgement pro~es that there exists a chan~e in the state o the systemt on the contrary, the state of the system is judged in Steps 12A, 12B and 12C.
Specifically, for example, if this judgement proves ~h3t l~A~rJ
THE SWITCHES ARE IN ~ OFF-STATE" in the Step 12A, the !.

~ 9 _ 1 operation is shifted to a Step 13A so that the direction along which the operation of the switch 20 is proceeding is judged. That is, in the step 13A, the preceeding state signal representing the state of the switch 20 before the occurrence of the change and the present state signal representing the state of the switch 20 after the occurrence of the change are exclusive-O~ed 50 as to judge that the system is proceeding in the starting direction when the result of the operation of exclusive OR is "O"
while the system is proceeding in the stoppiny direction when the result of the operation of exclusive OR is "1".
Conversely, if the judgement proves that all the : switches are not in an off state in step 12A, the operation is shifted to step 12B. If the judgement proves that there "IS ONLY SWITCH 20 IN ON STATE" in step 12B the operation is shifted to a step 13B so that the direction along which the operation of the switch 21 is p~oceeding is judged.
If the judgement proves that switch 20 is not the only switch in the on-state in step 12B, the operation is shifted to step 12C. If the judgement proves that there "ARE SWITCHES 2D AND 21 IN ON STATE" in step 12C the 1 3075q2 - 9a -1 operation is shifted to a step 13c so that the direction along whlch the operat.ion of the switch 22 is proceeding is judged. The judgement of the operational direction of the system is made in Steps 13B and 13C in the same manner as in the step 13A.
Mext, the succeeding operation in the direction along which the operation of the system is proceeding is judged in a Step 14. For example, the succeeding operation is judged so that e'SWITCH 20 TO BE TURNED ON" iS selected if the judgement in the step 13A proves that the system is proceeding in the system starting directionr while the succeeding operation is judged to be "SYSTEM T0 BE STOPPED"
if the judgement in step 13A proves that the system is proceeding in the system stopping direction. A guidance message corresponding to the judged succeeding operation and a display code corresponding to the guidance message 1 are then formed in a Step 15. The present state signal is then stored in a Step 16 as the c~rrent state signal be~ore the occurrence of a f.~rther chang~ so a~ to be used for judgement thereafter. The guidance message formed in the step ~5 is displayed on the display device 8 in a Step 17.
Although description has been made in the foregoing embodiment as to the case where the guidance display apparatus accordiny to the present invention is applied to the no-break power unit, the same effects as those in the foregoing embodiment may be obtained also when the guidance display apparatus according to ~he present invention is applied to any other system for the purpose of guidance display. Further, the same effects as those in the foregoing embodiment can be obtained also not only in the case where the guidance display apparatus according to the present invention is applied to a system for the purpose of guidance display but in the case where the apparatus is applied to any other system~related to state judgement.
The guidance display apparatus according to the present invention is arranged in a manner so that, as described above, the system operational direction judging means is provided to judge the operational direction of a tar~et system so as to display guidance in operation. The guidance display apparatus has therefore advantages in .~

~ 11 --1 that a mal-operation can be prevented because an operator can obtain a guidance message corresponding to the succeeding operation without being conscious of the running state of the system and in that the apparatus can be made inexpensive because it is not necessary to provide switches for selecting the kind of operational guidance.
