A NOOSE-LIKE FABRIC FASTENER
FOR USE IN HOLDING TOGETHER
ELONGATED ARTICLES
ABSTRACT
In fabric fasteners of the VELCRO? type disclosed is a novel structure for the hook-like element piece and the hook-like burr element piece in that they are part of the same continous ribbon of fabric wherein either the hook-like element piece or the hook-like burr element piece form a loop at one end of the other piece so as to fashion a noose-like fabric article holder.
Description
This invention relates to a noose-like fabric accessory holder or fastener.
Fabric type fasteners known under the trade mark of VELCR0~ have a hook-like element piece of fabric and a hook-like burr element piece of fabric which when ~ated grip each other.
My invention relates to a novel structure for the hook-like element piece and the hook-like burr element piece in that they are part of the same continous ribbon of fabric wherein either the hook-like element piece or the hook-like burr element piece form a loop or noose at one end and thereby provide secondary means of attachment to an article.
The invention therefore contemplates a noose-like fabric accessory holder comprising:
(a) a first length of hook-like element piece;
(b) a second length of hook-like burr element piece;
(c) one piece formed in a loop and attached to one end of the other piece whereby the other piece may be folded over the one piece thereby to matingly releasingly adhere thereto.
Particularly either the fir~t length or the second length maybe formed into a loop or noose whereby the opposite piece can be olded over and mated thereto or to be pulled away and released therefrom thereby securing and unsecuring various members.
The embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example and reference to the accompaning drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of my invention, showing explosions of the two element pieces.
Figure 2 is shows a fishing rod, collasped, employing two of my novel fasteners.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of an alternative embodiment of fastener.
Referring to Figure 1, the fastener 10 is composed of a length of hook-like element piece 12 that at one end has a loop hook-like burr element piece 14 that is attached, ~281531 preferrably fixedly secured as by stitching or sewing or welding as at 15 to one end of the hook-like element piece 12. The hook-like burr element piece 14 is on the outside perimeter 16 of the loop 14 and the hook-like element piece 12 has its hook-like surface 18 positioned so as to be able to enwrap about and adhere over and onto the hook-like burr surface 16 as desired. As is shown in Figures 2 and 3, the loop piece 14 may have attached thereto a dome 21 being the female section of a dome fastener 25 combination, seen in Figure 3 with its male piece 22. The dome 21 may as well be located rather than on the loop piece 14, instead on the non-loop or straight piece 12 and this is typically shown as the phantom dome 21' in Figure 1.
Figure 1 shows portions of the element pieces 12 and 16 exploded as 12A and 16A respectively.
In use, and in referring to Figure 2, if the accessory holder 10 i~ fabricated as shown, the dome fastener 21 is omitted and the handle 40 of the fishing rod, shown in Figure 2, is pushed through the loop 20 and the tip 50 of the fishing rod overlaid on a segment of the hook-like element piece 16 and the hook-like burr element piece 12 pressed onto the hook-like element piece 16 whereby holding of the tip of the rod 50 against the handle 40 i8 secured. Similarly the other end of the stock portion of the fi~hing rod is pushed through a loop 20 of a second accessory holder 10 and the accessory holder is secured thereto in similar fashion.
The fishing rod of Figure 2 is thus able to be easily carried as an integral unit in a neat and tidy fashion while in the folded or broken down state.
For storage, a female dome 22 may be affixed against a wall or other surface 30 as shown in Figure 3 and the male dome fastener 21 placed in the loop 20 as shown in Figure 1.
The fishing rod may be "snapped" against the wall by engaging the dome onto the female seat.
Various other embodiments will appear to those skilled in the art.
