Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a new improved saw blade suspension device and particularly to the clamping structure and front end of the upper and lower arms provided with a washer. The main purpose of the present invention is to provide properties of stability, low deformation, low friction and low noise for the saw, and to have the functions of economy and improved quality.

The present invention provides a saw-blade suspension device for a scroll-saw or a fret-saw.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Conventional scroll sawing machines have the structure of the two ends of the saw blade of the fixed type. The two ends of this kind of structure, in the process of pulling and sawing,~cannot provide a suitable resilience and the varia-tion of the applied force on saw blade itself is overdone.
Thus, the saw blade is easily damaged and broken. Convention-ally, the solution is to ~mprove the quality of the saw blade, but this increases the cost and it also limits the kind of the working object. Further, even if improvement is obtained by this method, it still cannot give a perfect result.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention uses a non-fixed type of suspension method and creates a clamping suspension system for a saw blade. The clamping suspension considers the position of the applied force and uses a high hardness washer to improve the deformation of the upper and lower support arms and friction to complete the design of the present invention.
The present invention is suitable for many kinds of saw blades, and naturally, the limitation for the processed 75~2 material is small, and the damage to the saw blade can be minimized.

Accordingly, the present invention provides a non-fixed saw blade suspension device for use in association with a mechanical saw having two support arms for an elongate blade comprising a clamping body attachable to each end of an elongate saw blade, said body defining a clamping gap for receiving an end of a saw blade; means coacting with the clamping body for reducing the spacing of the clamping gap so as to clamp the saw blade end to the body; a rounded steel bearing positioned on the clamping body for receiving the force of a support arm for the saw; and a washer of high hardness steel provided on each support arm for engaging the rounded steel bearing on each clamping body.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
~ . , _ Structure of the present invention comprises a clamping structure 1, a washer 2, upper and lower support arms 3 and a saw blade 4.
As shown in Figs. 1-4, the clamping structure includes a main body 11. In the middle of main body 11, there is a clamping gap 12 and a round hole 13 allowing the clamping gap 12 to possess better deformation ability for clamping saw blades 4 with different thicknesses. At the side of the main body 11, there is a screw hole 14. At the front section of said screw hole 14, there is no thread, that is, the front section is a smooth round hole 15. When the screw 5 (please refer to Figs.
5 and 9) penetrates through the round hole 15 to the threaded screw hole 14, the match of the screw 5 and screw hole 14 causes the clamping gap 12 to lessen, and allows the saw blade 4 placed in the gap 12 to be tightly clamped. At the lower part of each side of the main body 11, there is a retaining seat 16 and 17. The retaining seats 16, 17, are each provided with a hole 18, 19 located directly across from one another. The two holes 18, 19 respectively are provided with a steel wire 6 which penetrates therethrough, and the wire 6 extends against the lower part of the main body 11.
The lower part of main body 11 has a wedge shape for accommo-dating the wires 6. Due to the pull of saw blade 4, the main body 11 is pulled downward, and the downward force of the main body 11 is concentrated on the steel wire 6.

~75i~

The reason for using the steel wire 6 is because the material of the main body 11 and the upper and lower support arms 3 are of a soft material such as ordinary steel or aluminum alloy made by casting, and thus, are easily deformed.

As shown in Fig. 5, the two clamping structures are mutually opposed, and the middle part of saw blade 4 is positioned between the steel wires 6, 6 and steel wires 6', 6'. If the two main bodies 11, 11' are slightly deflected, the supporting force of the circular steel wires 6, 6' serve to maintain alignment of the blade 4. Thus, the mutually corresponding sets of steel wires 6, 6', allows the support-ing force of saw blade 4 to be kept in a stable position.

A specially assembled washer 2 with greater hardness is placed between the steel wire 6 and the support arm 3 for keeping the support arm 3 undamaged and undeformed, as shown in Figs. 6 and 7. The constitution of the washer 2 comprises a slot 21 for the saw blade 4 to pass through, and a hole 22 for a screw 7 to lock the washer 2 on the support arm 3. A
slot 23 is provided which is slightly larger than diameter of steel wires 6, 6'.

Fig. 8 is a perspective view of front end of the support arm 3~ The support arm 3 is conventional, and there are two symmetrical arm bodies. At the front end of the support arm 3, there is a slot 31 for receiving the slot 23 portion of the washer 2. At the front end of support arm, there is a slot 32 for the saw blade 4 to pass through. At the proper position of the support arm 3, there is a screw hole 33 for a screw 7 to lock the washer 2 onto the support arm 3, that is, the washer 2 is tightly placed at the front end of the support arm 3 in order to absorb the force transmitted from steel wires 6, 6'.

The position of the saw blade 4 is between two sections of steel wires 6, 6 and 6', 6', and in the middle of the slot 23 in the washer 2 and the slot 31 of the support arm 3.
Therefore, the saw blade 4 is stable in the pulling and sawing process, and because the suspension system of saw blade 4 is of the non-fixed type, the force which is applied to the saw blade 4 can be released~

~igs. 9 and 10 show the condition of the mutual relationship of the whole device. It is helpful to understand the present invention, as shown in these two figures. The condition of each constitutive element accepting the force can be seen, and the really mutual conflicting position is the steel wire 6 having greater hardness and the washer 2.
The design of th~ hardness relation of the materials for use in this kind of product is novel.

Summing up, the present invention keeps the supporting force in alignment by use of round high hardness steel wire (i.eO
using high carbon heated bearing steel). The contact position of the steel wire and the washer, which can be of carbonate treated steel plate, and the force being applied on the whole body of the present invention can obtain a better result for the tool.
