Abstract
Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to a multi-tiered corner shelf for the shower area in a bathroom. A large open space supports shampoos and lotions on a removable and drainable shelf. A smaller space below the removable shelf is closed by a door to provide a compartment. This compartment has a drainable floor and is intended for soap.
Description
i824 This invention relates to a multi-tiered corner shelf to be mounted in the shower area above a bathtub and remote from the wall that mounts the shower head.
The corner mounting of the shelf has a minimal protrusion into the shower area. It is preferably mounted at eye level. It has three storage surfaces. The upper roof surface may only be used occasionally because it has no retaining lip along its front edge.
The second storage surface is well spaced below the upper surface for shampoo bottles, lotions, etc. This second storage surface consists of a removable shelf with drain holes. The lower shelf or support surface is for soap and is also provided with drain holes.
The front of the volume space between the second shelf and the lower shelf is closed by a gravity drop sliding door. It is vertically ~ ln end grooves and a horizontal upper edge of the door provides a retaining flange for the main storage space and the objects that are stored therein on the removeable shelf.
The mounting of the shelf is preferably at the 90 degree merging of -the side plates of the shelf.
In further description of the invention, reference is made to the accompanying drawings wherein, Figure 1 is a top view of the shelf, and Figure 2 is a front elevation of the shelf.
lZ~61~2~
As shown in Figure 1, shelF 1 is triangular as viewed from the top and has a rear mounting angle of 90.
Further details of construction are shown more clearly in Figure 2. A roof surface 2 provides limited storage. An intermediate shelf 3 is removable and is provided with drain holes 4. In assembly the removable shelf rests on side ribs 4a. Door 5 closes the space between the lower shelf and the intermediate shelf. The lower shelf is provided with drain holes 7. Guiding dowels 8 co-operate with the side plates of the unit to provide end grooves for the gravity drop door. The door i5 also supported by the lower shelf and has a lifting handle 6. The extra height of the door provides a flange 9 for retaining the articles on the intermediate shelf. Mounting screws 10 secure the unit in the shower area, preferably at eye level.
It is thus seen that a new and useful invention has been presented in this application.
