Abstract

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE

A temperature controller comprises a temperature controller body having a positioning hollow raised portion and a plurality of pins, and a socket having a positioning recessed portion corresponding to the raised portion, a plurality of connection terminals for exterminal wiring and pin holes responding to the plurality of pins.
The socket is formed with a communication hole to face only receptacle members connected to thermocouple connect-ing external terminal, among receptacle members embedded in the pin holes, to the recessed portion. The raised portion of the temperature controller body houses therein a temerature sensitive element for compensating the tempe-rature of the thermocouple and is formed with a communicat-ing hole in comunication with the recessed portion.

Description

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER

BACX~ROUND OF THE INVENTION

Thi~ inven~on ~elate~ to ~ temperature c~ntroll~r which can comp~nsate f~r c~ld junction temperature o a thermocoupl~ with accura~y.
In a temper~ture controll~r body connected, by way of plugin~-in~ to a plurali~y of connection terminals for external wirin~, thexe is provid~d a hollow raised porti~n f~ positioning a pin pattern cQnsti~utlng th~

plugs to ~he so~ke~ The raised por~ion houses ther~in a resiStor for compensating for the co~d junction of the thermoc~uple. The socket and recessed portipn are ~brmed wi~h holes for maintalnlng ~he re~istor at a tempe-ra~u~e equal to that of op~n ~ir. In the internal circui~, t~ cold junction te~p~ratur~ of the ~h~m~couple connec*~d to th~ connection t~rmin~ls i5 compens~t~d ~or in accordance with the detected value o~ the resiStorr ~nd the thus compensa~ed temperatu~ is represen~ed by the true tempera-ture Qf an article to be measu~ed.
Howa~erO ir~ practice, the am~ient ~emper~ture o~
th~ resistor is sometime ~iffe~ent from telnperatures of the thermoc:ouple c:onnecting external terminalæ or the 23 ambient temperature thereof.
~ or exanlple, where th lenslth of the therm5~0upie or compensa~ion conductor is short, a great dif~erence ~tween the ~emperature of the ~old junction conneetin~

~, ~ 2 -terminal an~ t~e a~mi~nt temperatur~ of the resistor some-times O~UIS due to the ter~inal trans~is~ion from ~he temperature me~suring porti~n or the li~e~ Therefore, a great di~eFence between the true temperature and det~e~
temperatut~e c~f an art~t:le to b~ m~asured Dcc!ur~ advan-tageously failing to achieve the a~&urate temperature display or the proper tempe~ature contr~l o~ the basis thereof.

It is an object of the pr~sent inv~ntion to provide temperature cont~ller whi~h, de~plte a dif~erence ~n temperature between open air and ~old junction ~onne~ting 1~ tPrminals, ~etect a ~emperatur2 ~f an article to ~ mea-sured rapidly and ~ith accuracy ~o obtain a hig~ly a~curate display and a proper temperature control accordingly.
Aeoordln~ ~o a ~il'S~ featur~ of the pre~ent invention~
an ambient t~mperature o~ a temperature co~pensating tempe-rature-sensitive element and a t~mperature of a re~ep~cl~
m~ hich varie~ with a t~mperat~r~ ~h~n~xoup~e connecting ex~ernal terminal may assume one and the same level ~1 a ~hort period ~f t ~ ~
As a oonsequen~e, the ~ime r~guired till a temperature oont~oller hcdy i~ stabilized is shortened. ~nus, the ambient t~ ~ atur~ of the temper~ture sensitive element becomes equal to the am~ient temperature of the thermDcouple conn~ting external terminal~ and therefore, the value of compensation by ,~.",~

the ~emperature sensiti~e elcment i~ accura~e. ~hus, the ~empe~ture detecti~n wi~h high ~ccura~y is possible ~o be a~hieved.
Ac~roding to a second feature of the pr~ent inventi~n, n m~kinq tbe am~ient t~mperatur~ of the th~rmocouple conne~ting t~rminal equal to the atmospheric temperature in the periphery of ~he temperature sens~tive element, no additional part is required, ThuS, the ~onstruction i5 extremely simple.
