Abstract
BABY PACIFIER ASSEMBLY
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A pair of flexible members extend from a stuffed body. One of the flexible members is provided with a baby soother on one of the ends thereof and the other with a teeth-ing ring on the end thereof. The flexibility of the members enables the pacifier to be positioned conveniently for the baby or child.

Description

BABY PACIFIER ASSÆMBLY
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to new and useful improve-ments in pacifier assemblies for babies and small children.
Conventionally, pacifiers normally take the form of a soother or alternatively, a teething ring, each of which has to be placed in the baby's mouth unless the baby is old enough to manipulate same himself. Due to the relatively small size of such pacifiers, they often become displaced in the mouth so that constant attention is required by the attendant in order that the full facilities of the pacifier are utilized.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention overcomes disadvantages in-herent with conventional constructions firstly, by providing a main body portion in the form of a stuffed doll or animal which is attractive to a child and secondly, by providing at least one flexible member extending therefrom with a pacifier being secured to the distal end thereof. The member may be manipulated to position the pacifier in convenient location relative to the baby and the main body portion facilitates the placement of the device so that the pacifier is readily available to the baby's mouth.
,, , ~ . . . :
In accordance with the invention there is provided a pacifier assembly for babies and young children comprising in combination a stuffed body portion, at least one flexible elongated arm extending therefrom and being secured by one end thereof to said stuffed body portion, and mouth engaging pacifying means secured to the distal end of said one flexi-ble arm member.
Another aspect of the invention is to provide a device of the character herewithin described which is simple in construction, economical in manufacture and otherwise well suited to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the foregoing in view, and other advantages as will become apparent to those skilled in the art to which this invention relates as this specification proceeds, my in-vention consists essentially in the arrangement and construc-: tion of parts all as hereinafter more particularly describ-ed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which:
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Figure 2 is a side elevation of Figure 1.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Although the drawings and description show paci-fying elements of one thing or ano-ther secured to the distal end of the arms of the figure, nevertheless it will be appre-ciated that they can readily be attached to one or the other of the legs or other members which may extend from the main body portion.
:
In the present: embodiment, the main kody portion 10 is in the for of a stuffed animal or the like although a stuffed doll can be utilized. The head 11 surmounts, the main body portion and~legs 12 extend from the lower end of the main body portion.
.~ ' ; A pair of arms 13 extend one upon each side of the main body portion adjacent the upper end thereof and although many forms of construction can be utilized, a flexible element 14 is preferably engaged through the arms ,~
~- and across the body portion to ensure that the arms cannot become detached from the body portion.
Two forms of pacifier are shown although other forms may be incorporated.
Firstly, a conventional baby soother collectiveIy ;~
~3~
designated 15 is attached to the distal end of one of the members 13 and this is preferably secured to the distal end of the flexible element 14 in order to prevent inadvertent disengagement of the soother from the member 13. The soother includes the relatively soft rubber or synthetic plastic bulb portion 16 and the disc-like restrictor 17 which limits the depth of insertion of the soother into the baby's mouth.
The pacifier on the other member 13 takes the form in this embodimen-t of a teething ring collectively designa-ted 18 preferably made from a relatively hard synthetic plastic and this teething ring may be substantially ring-like or may take the shape shown in the drawings.
The inner end of the teething ring within the ex-tremity of the member 13 is once again secured to the distal end of the flexible element 14 in order to prevent inadver-tent displacement of the teething rlng from the member 13.
Alternatively, the element 14, the teething ring 18, and the soother l5 can be formed as a one piece plastic or rubber component.
Due to the flexible characteristics of member 13 the teething ring and soother may be manipulated into a plu-: :
~3~6 rality of positions relative to the body so that it is con-venient to the baby's mouth. By utilizing relatively bright colors and attractive features to the device, the baby is readily attracted to same thus facilitating the use of the soother and/or teething ring or other form of pacifiers which may be utilized.
If desired, the entire body together with the soother and teething ring may be formed from flexible solid plastic or rubber.
:
Since various modifications can be made in my in-vention as hereinabove described, and many apparently widely different embodiments of same made within the spirit and scope of the claims without departing from such spirit and scope, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification shall be interpreted as illus-trative only and not in a limiting sense.
