- les figureslA et ls representent schematiquement le principe sur lequel est base la detection du changement d'incli-naison d'une surface ou d'un terrain où le dispositif detecteur est intalle;
- la figure 2 represente le schema-bloc d'un ensemble de detection automatique conforme à l'invention;
- la figure 3 represente le schema de l'ensemble electro-nique contenu dans le boîtier-detecteur du dispositif detecteur;
- la figure 4 represente le schema de l'ensemble electro-nique contenu dans le boîtier-alarme du dispositif detecteur;
~5~7 759i'7 Si par contre la bulle de niveau se déplace, (figure lB) la transmission des rayons infrarouges ~ travers le niveau varie et le courant collecteur-emetteur augmente. Le déplacement de la bulle vers la droite ou vers la gauche indique alors une variation de l'inclinaison, par rapport a l'horizontal, de la surface ou du terrain sur lequel le niveau est place. Cette variation d'inclinai-son correspond à un mouvement anormal de cette surface ou ce terrain;
The invention relates to the automatic detection of the tilting of a surface with respect to a horizontal plane, and concerning no more particularly a device capable of carrying out this detection tion. It can be applied whenever it is necessary to be continuously informs of an abnormal tilt or initiation tilt of a surface on which the detection device is placed.
By way of nonlimiting example, the invention can find a very useful application in the construction of engineering works civil. However, one of the applications to which the device is remarkably suitable, is the detection of soil movement so that this movement is automatically announced from birth, either this movement is caused by natural phenomena, either that it is caused by artificial phenomena.
Among the natural phenomena likely to cause these surface movements, let us quote for example: the sliding of terrain, snowmelt, thaw, earthquakes etc. The invention therefore finds an extremely interesting application.
and useful for civil prevention. It can apply as much to control natural soils as glaciers or the like and a As such, it can be useful in monitoring the nei-geuses to control the imminence of an avalanche.

It has long been known to use levels at bubble and particularly the displacement of the bubble in the level to detect tilt variations.
This is how US Patent No. 3,789,510, dated 5 February 1974, describes a device suitable for measuring any deviation relative to a vertical line of the walls of a wellbore.
A hollow lens-shaped enclosure is partially filled of a liquid so as to form a bubble inside. A
light source and a photoelectric cell are aligned following in front of the central axis of the enclosure for the detection and measurement of the degree of inclination of the device relative to the axis of the well, the density of the light transmitted to the photoelectric cell being proportional to the area occupied by the bubble. The exit of the cell is calibrated so as to produce a control signal directly related to the value of this deviation.
U.S. Patent No. 3,813,556 of May 28, 1974, describes a device based on the same principle.
In addition, it is also known to use devices level indicators in which mercury is used either as a switch, or as a means of controlling an electric current stick.
However, none of these devices is suitable for detecting ter, for example, weak landslides, in a way reliable, and to indicate its presence by an appropriate alarm system prayed outside the monitored area.
According to the present invention, the automatic device for detecting the inclination of a surface relative to a horizontal plane, includes means for generating a bi-signal representative of either a horizontal position or a po-deviated, said generation means carried by this surface, the binary signal being the result of a comparison carried out at 1 ~ 77597 17 using comparator means between a signal emitted by a horizontal detector and a value reference signal predetermined; and means for processing this binary signal, connected to the generation means, for triggering at minus an alarm circuit signaling the detection of a deviation.
The horizontal detector is made up of at least at least one light radiation emitter-receiver assembly, the intensity of radiation received being representative of the position of this detector and determining according to the signal of reference the level of the binary signal generated by the means of generation. The device is characterized in that the emiss radiation is ensured by a set of photodiodes connected in series while the reception is done using phototransistors connected in parallel. Each photodiode is associated with a particular phototransistor. The intensity of radiation received varies with position relative to the plane horizontal of a bubble of a spirit level placed between each photodiode and its associated phototransistor.
According to a preferred form of the invention, the means used to generate the binary signal are housed in a common enclosure, hereinafter referred to as "detector-housing"
while the processing means and the alarm circuits are in an accommodation generally called "alarm-box-".
This tilt detector box includes the ni-bubble calf and the phototransistor-photodiode assembly. The voltage, across a resistance crossed by the current collector-emitter of the phosphor transistors, which varies according to whether the level bubble intercepts an infrared beam or not emitted by photodiodes to phctotransistors, is compared at a fixed, reference voltage. The result of this com-parison is the binary signal which is amplified and then transmitted to the alarm system.

1C ~ 77597 The alarm box is preferably composed of an oscillator actuating in opposition a warning light and a alarm bell. The signals from this oscillator are also used to trigger a monostable which by means of an isola-optical sensor turns on an electronic switch connected on the power supply of an external socket. The signals emitted by the alarm circuits make it possible to verify the good functioning operation of the whole; in particular, we can identify the vertical position of the detector by the lighted state of the indicator.
A tilt of the tilt sensor triggers signals intermittent sound and optics. In this case, the signals can only be stopped by unplugging the device of the sector or by adjusting the position of the detector.
If the connecting cable between the two boxes is cut 7 ~ 97 1 poorly connected, the indicator remains off but the doorbell, as well as the external alarm are activated. In this case, the box tier-alarm detects zero current to the bolt-detector.
Preferred embodiments will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
- FigureslA and ls schematically represent the principle on which the change in inclination detection is based origin of a surface or a ground where the detector device is intact;
- Figure 2 shows the block diagram of a set of automatic detection according to the invention;
- Figure 3 shows the diagram of the electro- assembly screw contained in the detector unit of the detector device;
- Figure 4 shows the diagram of the electro- assembly picnic contained in the alarm box of the detector device;
- Figure 5 shows the diagram of an electro-nique when the dispositiE of the invention comprises several provisions detection devices.
As shown in Figures lA and lB, the basic principle detecting the change in inclination of a surface of a rain on which a detector box is placed, resides in the detection of the displacement of the bubble of a level-to-kulle of the level type carpenter who is placed under the permanent supervision of departments infrared. The bubble level N is placed between an emitting diode this D of infrared rays and a receiver transistor T of these same rays whose collector-emitter current varies according to whether the bubble intercepts or not the infrared beam emitted by the photodio-of. If the bubble is held in the center, the collector current-emitter of transistor T is weak, this corresponding position has the stable position of a surface or ground on which the detector is placed, the spirit level then indicating the position horizontal of the detector box.
~ 5 ~ 7 759i'7 If on the other hand the level bubble moves, (figure lB) the transmission of infrared rays through the level varies and the collector-emitter current increases. The displacement of the bubble to the right or to the left then indicates a variation of the inclination, with respect to the horizontal, of the surface or the land on which the level is placed. This variation in inclination its corresponds to an abnormal movement of this surface or this ground;
like the collector-emitter current of the receiver transistor T des infrared rays increases, this can then be harnessed for initiate the electronic operating process of the device detector.
A tilt detection device is shown schematically in Figure 2. This device comprises a housing-detector 1 comprising a tilt detector 2 and a housing alarm 3.
These two boxes are connected to each other by a cable link 4 to move the alarm box 3 away from the bo ~ tier detector 1 from a sufficient distance to place the housing-detec-on the ground to be checked while the alarm box is on sheltered on the one hand from the usual bad weather, and on the other hand movements of the surface or the ground on which the device must work, or safe from the consequences that these movements could result.
The dispositi ~ shown in Figure 2 has a single detector-housing 1. This hermetically sealed housing is ascends, adjusts to the horizontal and firmly fixed to a support placed on the surface or ground to be monitored, this support can possibly be on the SurEacc or the train itself if this allows it. To make it easier to adjust, at least two water levels are located on the outside of the housing according to two different directions.
Inside the housing, three bubble levels allow ~ 077597 ant the possible detection of the movement of the ground or the ground, are preferably placed in the same plane and are arranged in triangle, each being placed at one of the vertices of this triangle.
By using three levels in a trian ~ ulary arrangement, and preferably according to the arrangement of an equilateral triangle, that considerably reduces the directional variations of the sensitivity of the detection assembly, possibly added possible variations in detection sensitivity depending on of the temperature.
This triangular arrangement of the levels allows maintain a constant detection sensitivity at - 0.1 ~ around with a central value of 1.35 ~ at a temperature of 25 ~ Celsius.
The ~ alarm unit 3 includes an oscillator 5 which receives detector 2 output signals via cable 4, and which supplies the alarm circuits 6, the latter and the os-cillator 5 being supplied with direct current by the convertor sor 7 which is connected to the mains supply network 8 supplying a voltage of 117 VAC at 60 Hz. In addition, a switch electronic 9 allows triggering of additional alarms 10, under network voltage, when triggered by a signal from of circuit 6.
The diagram in FIG. 3 represents the electrical device tronic contained in the detector box of figure 2. A
each of the three detection levels of the box corresponds to a diode D14-D16 emitting infrared rays, each of these diodes being mounted in series with each other in the detection circuit, and a photo-transistor T8-Tl ~ respectively receiver of these same infrared rays, arranged according to the principle operating diagram of Figures lA and ls.
It should be noted that the three circuits with phototransistors are identical and mounted in parallel to each other very in the detection circuit. This is why, to facilitate 10 ~ 75 ~ 7 I understand the detection circuit of Figure 3, it has was deemed ~ preferable to show only one circuit is the phototransistor T ~ and associated elements, and to explain the ~ onc-detection only on the basis of this circuit, it being understood that this operation is identical for each of the phototransistor circuits. This circuit is delimited in figure 3 by broken fine lines, and generally reference A.
In the circuit of Figure 3, the diodes D14, D15, D16 generate the infrared rays which pass through the levels and which are then picked up by the corresponding phototransistors T8, Tg, Tlo. Whether the bubble of a level gives intercepts or not the beam infrared, the collector-emitter current of the phototransistor corresponding polarizes the corresponding resistance R27 so to form a voltage across this resistor R27 which voltage is constantly compared to a fixed, reference voltage R obtained by the circuit consists of resistors R30, R31 and R32 and of transistor T4. For each phototransistor, the comparison circuit This is the form of a T5 transistor. The collectors of the set T5 transistors are interconnected to create a binary signal which is then amplified by the amplifier formed by the transistors T14 and T15 and their respective resistors R25 and R26.
Finally, a Dlo diode protects the emitter-base junction of each transistor T5 of each circuit A, ei the diodes Dg and D13 and the resistor R24 protect the entire circuit.
In the realization that has been successfully tested, the reference voltage R was 3 volts and the terminal voltage phototransistors, when the level bubble did not intercept not the infrared beam, was 1 volt, after adjusting polarization resistance R27-Figure 4 shows the electronic diagram of the case-alarm which also contains the DC power supply of the entire device, as shown in Figure 2.
1 ~ 7759 ~ 7 Terminals 1, 2, 3 of the electronic alarm mounting of Figure 4 are connected to the corresponding output terminals of the detection device of FIG. 3. The connection means is a cable of sufficient length to hold as far as necessary re the alarm box of the detector box; preferably this cable is a cable made to withstand bad weather.
Because the alarm box is intended to be located at the deviation of the movement of the ground or the ground to be controlled, and generally close to an electrical outlet with a earth connection, for example a 117 volt outlet at 60 Hertz, the DC power circuit is contained in the alarm box.
The DC power supply circuit of the device tif detector is, with reference to Figure 4, constituted by a transformer T, 117V-12V, a rectifier bridge forms four diodes Dl to D4, a first filtering circuit Rl, Cl for the sonnet-te S, the indicator V and the power supply of the detection circuit of the Figure 3, and a second filter circuit R2, R3, C2 for the circuit integrated CI
The alarm circuit proper in Figure 4 csmpor-te an integrated circuit CI including an oscillator and a rocker monostable. The integrated circuit used is of the NE556 type ~ manufactured by Texas Instruments, USA. The integrated circuit oscillator is used to actuate in opposition the bell S and the indicator light V, by its terminals 1 to 6. This oscillator is kept blocked by the tran-sistor Tl as long as the detector circuit of figure 3 emits a binary general, logic "1", through resistors R22 and R23, thus indicating that there is no angular deviation of the boltier detector relative to the horizontal. In this case, the transistors T13 and T3 are saturated, because the transmitter of T3 is connected to the terminal output 5 of the oscillator, then in the locked position, level "1", while the transistor T13 detects the current - 107 ~ 7 ~ 97 ~ supplying the detector circuit of Figure 3. In these conditions, the indicator V, which is a simple emitting diode, lights up and stays on as long as these conditions remain.
On the other hand, when an angular deviation is detected by the detector circuit of figure 3, this one emits a signal logic of level "0", which has the effect of unlocking the oscilla-of the integrated circuit CI and thus: i to put into operation the bell S via the transistors Tll, T2 and T3, and their associated resistances.
Oscillator output signals, via terminal 5 of the integrated circuit, are also used to trigger, using the elements R15, R16, C4 and T12, the monostable scale of this circuit, which takes terminals 8 to 13. The monostable, when triggered, is used to actuate by its output 9 an electronic switch ~ here a triac TR, via an opto-isolator circuit OI, of the type integrated MCS2 manufactured by ~ lonsanto, for example The duration of the im-drive provided by this monostable, is approximately equal to three ~ ois the period of the oscillator so that the output signal taken on terminal 9 is at level "1" as long as the oscillator is on operation. This pulse makes the OI optical isolator conductive which, through, s resistors Rlg and R20, and diodes D14 to D17 ~
- initiates the triac. The latter being mounted in series on food network, additional alarm systems connected to the output can be engaged when the triac is conductive, that is to say when the oscillator is in operation, in response has a signal for variation of the detector circuit of FIG. 3.
It should be noted that the resistance R18 and the capacity C5 constitute a filtering network for the isolator circuit OI and that the resistance R21 and the capacity C6 allow the extinction tion of the triac with reactive charges.
Finally, a push button P simulates an absence signal by the detector circuit by short-circuiting it, then iO77597 ~ eu safety fuses F protect the circuits of the box-alarm. In addition, the indicator V is connected so that it does not may remain lit only ~ i the fuses are in good condition. ~ n addition, in the event of a break in the transmission cable between the two boxes, or its faulty connection, the indicator V remains off while the audible signal S and additional alarms are actuated by the fact that the alarm circuit detects a zero current towards the detector circuit.
In addition, it may be desirable to have more several detection devices, each similar to that described above, for example for monitoring a large area area. In this case, it is necessary to use a summator electronics whose circuit emits a signal which is the logical product as signals e ~ is by two or more detection devices.
So that the summing circuit can activate an external alarm, it is necessary that the various alarm circuits indicate simultaneously a variation in the inclination of the ground or the ground on which they are placed.
The diagram in Figure 5 shows an example of a circuit adder made to receive the respective outputs of two alarm boxes. According to this diagram, the output voltage of the circuit summing is that of the alarm circuit connected to input No. 2. A
TRl electronic switch of the triac type fitted in series with entry 2 is controlled by entry No. 1. Thus, it is necessary the switch is closed and input No. 2 supplied so that the output becomes active, being then under a voltage of 117 VAC.
The control circuit of this switch, which delivers the direct current necessary for the trigger of the triac, is constituted a Tl transformer, 117V - 12V, a rectifier bridge, D20 to D23, a threshold circuit, in particular a Zener Z diode, and a network of filtering C21, R30 and R31. For reactive loads, connected in output, circuit R32, C20 allows extinction of the triac and the ~ (~ 7759 ~ 7 ~ resistance R33 charges the transformer to absorb the current of the alarm output to which it is connected.
It is understood that modifications may be made tees to the preferred embodiments described above without for as much to depart from the scope of the present invention. For example, is entirely conceivable to replace the transmission cable connecting the alarm box to the detector box a hert link zienne consists of a transmitter and a receiver, in the event that a great distance separates these two boltiers. Therefore, the embodiments of the present invention are limited only by the scope of the claims which follow.
