ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
An apparatus for tying a fishing line to a fish hook, consisting of a handle having a supporting shaft, a rotary shell mounted on the supporting shaft, a bobbin arm connected to the rotary shell, the bobbin arm projecting forward at a certain distance from the rotary shell and offset from the axial center line of the handle, a spring biased fishing line grasping means at the upper end of the bobbin arm, a loop hanging plate at the end of the supporting shaft, a fish hook holding means secured to the loop hanging plate, said holding means having a fixed holding surface and a pivotally mounted holding lever spring biased to a closed position and a spring biased fishing line holding means through a pivot shaft provided on the fish hook holding means.

Description
63~i45 The present invention ~s related to an apparatus for tying a fishing line to a fish hook and its object is to offer an apparatus which is simple in structure, but which enables a user to tie a fishing line to a fish hook easily and securely even in the dark.
A discussion of the prior method of attaching a fish hook to a fish;ng line and embodiments or the invention, and their operation, are hereafter described with reference to the accompany-: ing drawings, in which;

Up to now, the work of tying a fishing line 22 to a fish hook 21 was done by hand as by putting the fishing line 22 along a fishing line tying place which is near the rear end of the fish hook 21, winding the end 25 of the fishing line 22 several times round both the fish hook 21 and a part of the fishing line 22 having been put along the fish hook, passing the end of the wound fishing line through a loop 24 which has been formed between the two parts of the fishing line, tightening the loop 24 by pulling the fishing line 22 forward, and thus tying the fishing line 22 to the fish--hook 21 in such a way that the end 25 of the fishing line 22 is wound round the fish hook 21 at the place where the loop was formed.
According to the present invention, it is now possible to do such work as was done by hand in the past, easily, quickly and securely even in the dark by using an apparatus which is simple in construction and easy to operate.

on a supporting shaft 2 provided at the end of a handle 1. To rotary shell 3 is connected the bottom end of a bobbin arm 4 which projects forward at a certain distance from the rotaxy shell 3 and which is located at a certain distance from the center line A-A of the handle 1. A fishing line grasping means C is formed at the front end of bobbin arm 4 and loosely supports a bar 7 by supports 5, 6. This provides a pressing member 8 and a pressing head 9 respectively at the front end and the rear end of bar 7. The bar 7 and hence the pressing head 9 are biased by a spring 10. A loop hanging plate 12 is fixed to the end of the supporting shaft 2 pro-vlded at the top of the handle 1 in contact with the front side of the rotary shell 3. An arm 13, having a fishing line holding surface on the inner surface of its upper end, is incorporated with the loop hanging plate 12 on the latter's front side. A holding lever 16 is pivotally mounted on a pivot 14, 15 provided in the middle of arm 13. A fish hook holding means is formed by providing a spring 17 : .

surface of the rear end of the holding lever 16. A ~ishing line hoIding device S is formed by inserting a shaft 18, having a pressing head 11 on its upper end and a pushing head 20 on its bottom end, into the bore o~ the pivot part 15-and prcviding a spring 19 to bias the pushing head 20 against the end of pivot part 15. Thus, a fishing line 22 can be held by the pressing head 11. Item 26 is a magnet provided on the rear end of the handle 1 for the purpose of picking up a fish hook which may fall to the ground.
The operation of the apparatus for tying a ~ishing line to a fish hook in accordance with the present invention will now be described.

The fishing line 22 is then crossed near its end 25, a loop 24 is formed on one side of the crossing part, and the crossing part is pressed together with the top of the fish hook 21 by a finger tip of the left hand.
' lO The rotary shell 3'is turned several times by the thumb of the right . hand in a direction shown with an arrow in Figure 3, winding the fishing line 22 round the tying part of the fish hook 21, and also ~- round the top part of the fishing line 22 which has formed the loop , 24 in such way as to form loops 23, as shown in Figure 5. ';~ fishing line holding means C in order to supply a necessary léngth ` for winding, The end 25 of the fishing line 22 is then removed from `'' the fishing line holding means C, and retained around the loosely supporting part 14. The end 25 is then lead to a position which -runs inside of the loop 24, the loop 24 is removed from the loop -''' : hanging plate 12 as shown in Figures 8 and 9, and the fishing line 22 is puIled towards the front of the fish hook 21, so tightening the loop 24 and the loops 23, and thus tying the fishing line 22 to ~: the fish hook 21.
With such structure as described above, the apparatus .,J :~:

Up to now, the work of tying a fishing line 22 to a fish hook 21 was done by hand as by putting the fishing line 22 along a fishing line tying place which is near the rear end of the fish hook 21, winding the end 25 of the fishing line 22 several times round both the fish hook 21 and a part of the fishing line 22 having been put along the fish hook, passing the end of the wound fishing line through a loop 24 which has been formed between the two parts of the fishing line, tightening the loop 24 by pulling the fishing line 22 forward, and thus tying the fishing line 22 to the fish--hook 21 in such a way that the end 25 of the fishing line 22 is wound round the fish hook 21 at the place where the loop was formed.
According to the present invention, it is now possible to do such work as was done by hand in the past, easily, quickly and securely even in the dark by using an apparatus which is simple in construction and easy to operate.

on a supporting shaft 2 provided at the end of a handle 1. To rotary shell 3 is connected the bottom end of a bobbin arm 4 which projects forward at a certain distance from the rotaxy shell 3 and which is located at a certain distance from the center line A-A of the handle 1. A fishing line grasping means C is formed at the front end of bobbin arm 4 and loosely supports a bar 7 by supports 5, 6. This provides a pressing member 8 and a pressing head 9 respectively at the front end and the rear end of bar 7. The bar 7 and hence the pressing head 9 are biased by a spring 10. A loop hanging plate 12 is fixed to the end of the supporting shaft 2 pro-vlded at the top of the handle 1 in contact with the front side of the rotary shell 3. An arm 13, having a fishing line holding surface on the inner surface of its upper end, is incorporated with the loop hanging plate 12 on the latter's front side. A holding lever 16 is pivotally mounted on a pivot 14, 15 provided in the middle of arm 13. A fish hook holding means is formed by providing a spring 17 : .

surface of the rear end of the holding lever 16. A ~ishing line hoIding device S is formed by inserting a shaft 18, having a pressing head 11 on its upper end and a pushing head 20 on its bottom end, into the bore o~ the pivot part 15-and prcviding a spring 19 to bias the pushing head 20 against the end of pivot part 15. Thus, a fishing line 22 can be held by the pressing head 11. Item 26 is a magnet provided on the rear end of the handle 1 for the purpose of picking up a fish hook which may fall to the ground.
The operation of the apparatus for tying a ~ishing line to a fish hook in accordance with the present invention will now be described.

The end 25 is then lead to a position which -runs inside of the loop 24, the loop 24 is removed from the loop -''' : hanging plate 12 as shown in Figures 8 and 9, and the fishing line 22 is puIled towards the front of the fish hook 21, so tightening the loop 24 and the loops 23, and thus tying the fishing line 22 to ~: the fish hook 21.

PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. An apparatus for tying a fishing line to a fish hook, consisting of a handle having a supporting shaft, a rotary shell mounted on the supporting shaft, a bobbin arm connected to the rotary shell, the bobbin arm projecting forward at a certain distance from the rotary shell and offset from the axial center line of the handle, a spring biased fishing line grasping means at the upper end of the bobbin arm, a loop hanging plate at the end of the supporting shaft, a fish hook holding means secured to the loop hanging plate, said holding means having a fixed holding surface and a pivotally mounted holding lever spring biased to a closed position and a spring biased fishing line holding means through a pivot shaft provided on the fish hook holding means.
