Abstract

A próxima etapa do processo consiste na flotação reversa da calcita e depressão da apatita mediante a utilização do ácido cítrico e mantendo-se o pH na faixa de 4,0 a 6,8.PROCESS FOR THE USE OF CITRIC ACID AS A DEPRESSOR AGENT IN THE SELECTIVE FLOTATION OF CARBONATE MINERALS The present invention refers to the flotation process for the beneficiation of phosphate ores with carbonated or silicocarbonated gangue. The process is based on the use of citric acid as a depressant for apatite and is characterized by the steps of direct and reverse flotation, although it may also include steps of cleaner and scavenger flotation depending on the ore characteristics. Initially, the ore sample must be conditioned, if necessary, with a dispersant and a depressant for silicate minerals according to the characteristics of the gangue minerals, for a certain time. Subsequently, conditioning must be carried out with an anionic collector added at a dosage within the range of 0.1 to 1.2 kg.t-1 and maintaining the pH between 8.0 and 12.0. Direct flotation at this pH generates a rougher concentrate of apatite and calcite that must be conditioned for a certain time with citric acid, added in dosages within the range of 0.5 to 10.0 kg.t-l. Conditioning with citric acid should be done keeping the pH between 4.0 and 6.8. If necessary, another conditioning can be carried out with a collector, keeping the pH between 4.0 and 6.8 depending on the characteristics of the ore. The next stage of the process consists of reverse flotation of calcite and depression of apatite using citric acid and maintaining the pH in the range of 4.0 to 6.8.
